Seriously though, it sounds like you've done all the right things. If converting still won't work, maybe you could try to make TH give you a working convert option by trying to use another key. I've not tried this personally, since I've not encountered this exact problem before. There HAS to be a way to fix this issue, other than to "buy members".
Sure, Jagex wants you to buy members. They want everyone to buy members. However, even if you don't, they still want you to play TH, hoping you'll buy keys. Why would you bother wasting money buying TH keys if this glitch is preventing you from playing TH?
Of course, you may not be interested in buying TH keys anyway...but they don't need to know that.

If you made a new thread in the Community Led Technical Support, somebody should be able to help you there. They have several regulars who are generally pretty good at helping other players with technical issues.
They were unable to help me with a problem I was having with the link to redeem a pre-paid RS card a short time ago (fortunately I found a way around the problem myself) - but maybe they can help you. Be sure to use an eye-catching thread title, such as "5M TH key glitch" or something else along those lines.
Over 15 years, and this is your first glitch?
