So I am guessing a bug of some sort.
The loot chests themselves are not a guaranteed prize (in fact, they are a rare (red) tiered prize).
So you pretty much just got unlucky with your 5 keys.

If you are thinking of Loot Duels, then that is a separate Treasure Hunter promotion.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

You have mistaken Loot Chests for Loot Duel.
