TH, especially prizes, are getting a big change next Monday. Of note, we will no longer be winning Skilling Outfits and Slayer Masks from Alice:

The following prizes will be removed from Treasure Hunter:

Skilling Outfits (Normal and Elite)
Slayer Masks - these will instead be available through Shattered Worlds play
Wicked Hood Tokens - now available in the Runespan Shop for 1.5k points each
200m Coins (this has been replaced by a 50m Coin prize, but thanks to the new balancing players will be sure to net more coins in total than previously)
Brilliant Alchemist Fragments (fragments that were otherwise lying around have been converted to 250 Oddments each)
All cosmetic items except those applicable to a current promotion

So newer players will have to get them from skilling and inevitably playing minigames soon. This is probably going to help some old minigames to regain some attention.

Cosmetic items will be limited to promotions only. Perhaps this will make many tradeable cosmetics/tokens more valuable.

There will no longer be 200 mil gp prize. We'll get 50 mil gp ones rather. The good thing for me is I just a 200 mil gp prize a couple of days ago.. Just in time before it is going to be tuned down... :D

All changes seem to be pretty reasonable, if not outright good, except perhaps I only have 3 days to use up my close to 5k HoIs. It doesn't seem possible. :(

will be quite interesting to see how it all plays out.

With the items being removed from Treasure hunter

Skilling Outfits (Normal and Elite)
Slayer Masks
Wicked Hood Tokens
200m Coins
Brilliant Alchemist Fragments
All cosmetic items except those applicable to a current promotion

and only a few items being added

Giant Stars and Giant Lamps
Huge Coin Pouch
Portable Packs
50m coins

- As a previous claimer of 200m gp, and how long it took for me to obtain it - and their wording of for the 50m gp being added in it's place:
but thanks to the new balancing players will be sure to net more coins in total than previously

will have to see how much more often that prize is obtained or not because they haven't ran the Crystal Capsules promo in almost a year and that seems like they're making that 50m reward from that promo having the chance of obtaining it every day now - rather then only when the promo gets ran.

- I guess with them removing more then adding in, they're making it a little better to have much more of a smaller pool of item to choose from.

- Pretty sure by cosmetic items pretty sure they mean items like Archon boots ect.. not token cosmetics, because those aren't obtainable outside of when the promo's are running anyways. so it won't affect any of the tradeable cosmetics/tokens.

Not necessarily, skilling outfits should still be available from vic also - so they could just wait untill that comes around.

but yeah the changes seem mostly all good.
Don't trust any pc's listed, any advice or talks between posts on ID forums anymore , the Manips are let loose, especially the main one with 15+ accounts posting acting as different people.. do your own research

Wondering what Hols are. Do I have any? Should I be using them up? What are we talking about here?

I got it. Hearts of Ice. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal to lose them imo. I don't have very many to be fair because I use them up but either way they always seemed a bit too flaky to me. I never ran the numbers but it seemed like I got plenty of white prizes even using 10 hearts per key.

And honestly since they are giving you 1 oddment per 5 HoI, I'd say it's probably more worthwhile just to hold on to them and cash in for oddments which actually have measurable use. (even though HoI are much more difficult to obtain than oddments. 1k is a pretty small number of oddments, compared to 5k HoI which is a mind blowingly large amount that would take forever to use)

Maybe I'm one of the few that actually enjoys the variety of the current TH... however, it seems like they are trying to push the stars/lamps as the primary prizes, and I HATE getting stars and lamps. I would much rather get something interesting than a bubbling, smouldering, smoking, crackling etc. lamp. Maybe that's just my ADHD at play, but I get the feeling this is going to cause some people to lose interest in the promotions. Since Jagex uses TH as a "microtransaction" method of making revenue, they've probably made the calculation that more people would rather spend real-world money to buy experience than train skills.

I don't really get what their train of thought is behind the 1000 runespan points for one wicked hood teleport token. Like, you get maybe 1000-1300 or so runespan points per hour for high runecrafting levels. 1000 points for one single teleport, like how is that worth it? Even outside of Abyss use just running to the Death Altar is way faster than the 50-ish minutes it takes to get the wicked hood teleport at runespan, with all the other altars being faster than Death altar. I haven't timed it, but I'm fairly sure that even when banking at Ardougne North bank you're still much faster running to the Death altar than that. Bob

I definitely get their "train of thought". Runesapan points are pretty useless, but can be obtained rather easily even without doing Runespan from DSP Merchant Shop fairly commonly. Once every few days I can buy an Unstable Air Run, good for 5k Runespan points already.

Besides, there is almost no point for Runespan Points after getting maxed Esteem (a trimmed comp requirement?). However, there may still be points to continue to train RC at Runespan and continue to collect useless Runespan Points. Runespan points for Wicked Hood Teleport definitely is a favor for players with maxed Esteem.

Theoretically yes, new players can get skilling outfits from Vic, but practically a bad idea as players are actually paying a stiff cost of xp to buy skilling outfits from Vic. This is especially bad for newer players when xp and bxp are hard to come by at lower skill levels. It is also not a good idea to have to only get wait for Vic in town every 4 months unless they want to pay another price to buy bonds for Portable Vic.

Exactly.

I dont understand why they're removing the outfits as i dont seem them as an issue.

Plus its not like theres any better alternatives as stated.

Probably to try to get players to do more minigames.
