To me all fansites are amazing and a lot of fansites put in a big investment into their websites. What would be awesome is to honor those fansites with a Golden Gnome, this would make fansites feel more apart of the RuneScape Community and something that is worth it. I feel to make it less bias it should be a vote type of thing and all fansites should have a opportunity even if they are not currently listed as a Supported fansite but have access to these forums.
I know having a competition aspect to the Fansite Community is a little bad but yet RuneFest comes once a year and to win a award for making a Fansite would be amazing and something that can be displayed in-game.
As a fansite owner or staff would you like to see your fansite when a Golden Gnome, just like Youtube Channel owners wins one or RuneScape Players win one. Why can't a fansite have a chance to win a Golden Gnome?
Interesting idea indeed -- though, I am quite curious as to the criteria as well. There are plenty of options in this regard - all from best design to most detailed guides really.

This is a toughie - while we have expanded the remit of the Golden GnomesI am sure we will be looking at them carefully this year to see which ones worked and which didn't. Fansites feel like an awkward one to me, with so many different categories and the risk of just becoming a popularity contest.
I'll be sure to chat to the RuneFest team about it.

I agree, I can see people becoming upset because they did not win or if a particular fansite wins.
Rather then awarding a specific Fansite why not award the fansite staff members,
therefore it wouldn't be a "Competition between fansites" rather recognition for
their work.

That's awkward as well. Who's to say that those who make the articles are more significant than those who design the website? Or taking pictures in-game to add to the articles being more significant than those who run events?

I understand that this can be a little tough but fansites have rarely been recognized and it would at least show that fansites are close and apart of jagex much like you tubers as well as twitch users.
But I understand how tricky this can be but it's something to toss up in the air.
What categories I think would be best is making at nomination during runefest. But it would come down to a popularity contest maybe Jagex could decide this. I just really wish to see fansite more recognized especially during a big time like Runefest
.
But if everyone is not up for this then I understand.
It's a great idea but I really don't think it could work out that well. No matter the outcome people could cry out for favouritism or anything at all to make it not seem like a fair contest.
I don't have a solution though. :/
