As Scape Central is relatively new (in comparison with some of you oldies) its community is obviously growing at the moment and the staff team is relatively small. As Head of the Content Team for Scape Central, building up all of that content alone (the guides, the quests, the skills, the databases etc) it a bit tough and other content staff that have joined previously have left as a result of it being so daunting!
For now I will be working on guides but taking more of a community approach, besides staff comes from members... however I wondered your guys views on the situation having gone through or going through the same thing.
How would you suggest we should recruit content staff in particular? Is there something to make it better / more attractive?
....
I co-ran the content team over on RuneHQ for a few years and you're right, it's no easy task. You need people who are passionate about the content and see the large tasks as a challenge they want to do, not something that's "too much effort".
Granted, it's going to be difficult, but when you get some really good people it can go a long way.
If you have a section of your site that people can post content updates then I'd look in there.
I don't really have much to say on specifically making things better / more attractive, since you want people who want to do the job. The reason I started providing content updates 8 years ago (oops, starting to show my RS age here) is because I wanted to help people. I loved being able to say "I did that and it just helped someone". It's what has kept me wanting to continue providing information to help everyone out.
Best of luck in finding some people to help you out. It'll be good to see what the others have to say.

At the moment, members aren't really able to comment or edit any content (although this is a plan for the future I THINK) so it makes it difficult to really get people interested in it as it seems off limits almost.
Nice to have a fellow content lead post too! You know the hardships! I really appreciate your response and will keep my eyes peeled for more

Good luck with the content but if I had any advice, it would be to try to be different. I think its important to have something unique that your site is known for to be successful. Guides are are okay, but pretty much any other fan site has them. The sky is the limit when you use your imagination to do things no other fan sites have done.
Here are some suggestions:
Make you recruitment viral and public, make sure everyone knows about it and everyone can access all the required information in order to take the decision and join your ranks.
Speak to the members of your community, talk to those you find most potential, if they are not interested ask them if they can reccomend you someone else and go to that person. Don't be afraid of doing head-hunting!
Show everyone that being the part of your fansite staff team is a great thing and fun.
Be creative
Here's what we did recently

The topic contains a short presentation of what we do and who we are. Then there's a list of all open positions. Each position has its own role model, who shares his story using a role play. This is followed by a list of duties and responsibilities of the position, in order to make it clear what is the job about. And of course, the topic ends with How to sign up.
I hope this might give you some inspiration
