Hey everyone, i'm looking for experienced streamers to try and help me out.

Before I ask my questions, i'm sure that some of my problems with streaming can be traced back to my own personal ISP, whether it be with my upload or download speed.

Anyways, I currently use Xsplit as my main program to livestream. I tried using OBS, but no matter what settings I would change, my stream would be VERY laggy and I would drop more frames than I would encode them. When I switched to Xsplit, the problem fixed automatically without me having to change any settings.

My main questions would be these:

-What program do you use? Xsplit or OBs?
-What are your encoding settings?
-What are your Max bitrate and buffer rate settings?
-What is your quality set to?
=Do you have CBR enabled?

Currently I stream the best using Xsplit, and my stream is fine, no dropped frames, no lagging or anything. But that's when my character is standing still. When I start to walk or run, my stream starts to lag. I don't know why, i've tried changing my settings around but it still happens.

Like I said above, i'm sure most of my problems lie within my current ISP, but there's a part in me saying that I don't have the correct settings in my program, which is why i'm asking here for help.

I'm pretty much asking for a lot of help here because i'm new to streaming, new to these programs and would like as much help as I can get as far as settings go. So if someone wouldn't mind taking the time to help me out, I would greatly appreciate it!

I've had the same problems before; was due to my connection: standing still = fine, few steps, boom huge frame drops. You say you're not dropping frames though so not sure what that might be.

Check you're connected to a server that's local to you. That might be your problem :P

Do you know what your upload speed is? Can check at http://www.speedtest.net to see what your connection can handle. Usually you set your bitrate at 2/3rds to 3/4ths of your upload speed unless your speeds are massive.

If you are using the free version of xsplit I would suggest you use OBS instead. Xsplit is good with the payed version but the audio quality on the free version is horrible. I can help out with your settings once you find out your upload speed.

Also if you know your computer specs/speeds you can use this link to figure out what settings to use for OBS. http://obsproject.com/estimator

My upload speed on average is 5 according to that site.

As for my computer specs, I don't have any top end equipment but I can tell you that it's not bad at all. I run on a 16GB ram, Radeon 6700 series graphics card, AMD quad-core processor, Windows 7 64bit operating system.

Not sure where I can find info about all of my specs but if you let me know i'll post again with more information.

Currently I have been using OBS, just gets frustrating with all the settings as i'm new to streaming and I don't fully understand the program that well.

I had the same problem with losing frames, so I downgraded to v0.581b and it's been fine again.

You can download the version here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/obsproject/files/?source=navbar
