So we know that Seren is millions of years old, as stated in the cutscene at the beginning of Desperate Times. This means that she, Zaros, and the current cycle of the universe are hundreds of times older than Gielinor. And since the Dragonkin and Elder Gods are from the previous cycles, they're even older than that. Pretty interesting. I was honestly surprised to read how old the universe was. Everything until then seemed to be only several millennia old at most. Not thousands of millennia.

Gielinor is likely many times older than recorded history. Supposing that Gielinor was young when Guthix stumbled upon it would be presuming too much. (Unless there is a canon reason for believing so, of course). But still, Freneskae is super old. I don't think Zaros and Seren are that much older Gielinor, though. They must have been created some time long after Mah was abandoned as stillborn and the rest of the Elder Gods went their separate ways to try and create life sustaining planets without her. Mah's tantrums would have at least been a sign of life that would have convinced them to stay or at least do something to contain Mah and her possibly dangerous power. And Zaros and Seren popping into existence would have definitely caught their attention.

I don't know how long Zaros and Seren stayed with Mah, but when Zaros left, she was no longer creating dreams; she was creating nightmares. And it seems to me that Mah's health declines extremely slowly, as she was still creating nightmares millennia after Amascut and Icthlarin visited Freneskae and the Mahjarrat stopped doing the ritual of Rejuvenation, unwittingly sustaining her. Zaros did not catch the Elder Gods in the act of creating worlds when he did leave, he only saw evidence of their creative acts on worlds that had been left alone long enough that the disbalance in their anima created souls and sentient life advanced enough to have developed civilizations and language.

The Elder gods were likely long sound asleep on Gielinor by then, their perfect, safe, soulless world. But then the Fairies discovered the rift to Zanaris from Chaennanais and established themselves there, followed by Guthix sometime afterward.
Humility is self-destruction, pride is the destruction of all else. And He said, "
Let there be light.
"
And then there were none .
