He did seal himself away (apparently the Salve couldn't kill him). It was confirmed that the vampyre in the coffin at the top floor of Paterdomus was Ivandis. He dies when we put the cure for vampyrism into the Salve (presumably having changed back to human at which point his extreme age killed him).

He also goes even more feral earlier in the quest (clicking the coffin reveals that whatever is inside is thrashing about even more than normal) when the first attempt at bolstering the Salve with his potion fails (the ones that turns the juvinates feral).

Oh... well that's just depressing, and still anti-climatic. The player killed Ivandis and didn't even realize it.

I mean, it's cool to think that he was there from the beginning, ever since the series was started, but once again it still doesn't feel satisfying. You never even heard a word from him.

I always considered the Seven to be a slightly less cooler but still interesting version of the Barrows Brothers. Feels like there was a lot of missed opportunity there.

Like, maybe when you clear the temple of Zamorakian Monks, you decide to kill the Vampyre as well because he is a loose end. And then, poof - it's Ivandis. He begs you to kill him, and you can tell him about the plans for a cure and that Blisterwood does in fact exist, and the quest ends with you curing him as well. It would have been far more believable than Efaritay's appearance, at least in my opinion.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.

Eh, he's a tragic hero. He and his friends sacrificed everything to turn back the vampyric conquest. He survived by some quirk of fate only to have become one of the enemy. He spent the rest of his time sane trying to cure himself so that the people he had sacrificed so much to save need not fall by his own hands (providing the basis by which vampyres would eventually be cured). Failing that, he attempted to rid the world of the threat he presented. And failing that, he sealed himself away to starve and suffer for what he believed would be forever.

Ivandis was willing to sacrifice everything he had to give for the cause he fought for and believed in. It's a sad story, but an admirable one. And in the end, he got exactly what he wanted.

So I wasn't the only one who thought the quest was bad. Seriously, it needs a heavy rework because nothing interesting happened on it. And it being only the end of the Myreque series is no excuse at all.

Okay, I get that you didn't like how the quest turned out and wanted to voice your opinion on it, but did you really have to dig up a thread abandoned almost half a year ago to do it? Is it really that hard to make a new thread?

It was easier and cleaner, indeed. And it achieved my objective, which was to respark the discussion on this quest. Besides, given I'm just yet another player in this game I doubt I'd have gotten any attention at all by creating a new thread about it. That's why I preferred to necro any available old threads.

The argument against necro-ing is pretty absurd on the lore forums.

'Oh no, you're going to knock one of the relevant, highly active threads off the front page!'

The community is so small, the same people who commented the first time around would likely just leave the same replies on a remade thread. If there's already a thread on a topic you want to discuss, makes far more sense to just use the old thread.

The issue with necroing in the lore forums is that players will often bring out-of-date threads back to the forefront instead of simply making something that's more relevant to the current discussion.

...With that said, this is just a rant about a quest within a finished quest series, so no harm here.
Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

Honestly, I liked River of Blood. I get some of you are disappointed it didn't have an angsty ending, but I think the previous quest fulfilled the Myreque series quota in that regard.

To me, it felt more like an epilogue than a true finale, with Lord of Vampyrium being the true climax of the story, and River of Blood tying up the loose ends.
You never were our brightest star, Khazard. 'Vermin slaughtered like lambs'? What does that even mean?

Exactly this. Only issue I had was Velief not doing anything.

It didn't tie up loose ends very well, a lot of things could have been completely left out.
