Some say that change is the origin of all philosophy, art, culture, and time. Others say that our initiative is simply an illusion. If so, there would be no reason that determinism should stop inside our own minds. According to this, we are automatons, and can think free but shall never be free. This way, every action, every part of our lives and the life of the universe have already been decided by the initial conditions made by this universe. But this seems very strange and I shall try argue that this isn’t the case.

The latter is simply unacceptable, as dynamic changes and personal choices are indispensable in the evolution of the world as we know it. Just ask the gods or their followers what their impressions of your past actions are. When progressing through time, it becomes interesting to study the role of creativity and newness in the history of the whole universe. Intelligent organization is uniquely acquired by harnessing insults from the changing environment which we shall call entropic.

Evolution has continuously increased the role that complexity and adaptability have played throughout Gielinor’s existence. Its creative manifestations are a result of the acquisition and transformation of energy that comes from exterior sources. The Elder Artifacts, for example, have uniquely shaped worlds that had increased in complexity in the process as time had (literally) passed, whereas mortals could tap into tis energy’s residue to refine their own power and improve their lives in general.

When we undergo perturbations met in quests, stability is generally lost, but eventually restored by us adapting to changes, forging new, distinct realities. When looking more closely at the manifestations of life, it becomes clear that we are all temporal-spacial structures dependent on the chaotic driving force of the universe - change . When looking around you, you will see that all man-made surroundings are organized out of matter and energy. Every living system is adapting to chaos to maintain their own living force’s organization.

Therefore, one should carefully observe and analyze the information coming in and also successfully integrate energy flowing through one together with mass that gets encountered, and coordinate them altogether in an optimal fashion, recycling as much as one can. Wasting useful energy into non-functional primitive structures generally inhibits life’s potential.

Life as we know naturally moves away from chaos whenever it arises, though that doesn’t mean one should avoid it altogether. The right amount of chaos in many circumstances could be most useful, though in others very harmful indeed. Everyone is dependent on the surrounding chaos to exist, but continuous individual adaptation to the induced changes are required to reduce negentropic waste, or personal and envionmental damage, or the lack thereof would result in a loss in complexity.

You are a Guthixian, basically lol. Have a balance of both chaos and order, occasionally shifting slightly more to one of them, but not too much.

Guthix's girlfriend, Seren, would agree to this notion to some extent. Indeed, without chaos, life would fall into stagnation, but don't forget, creativity and imagination also exists.

Player: But surely you see the wisdom in Zamorak's philosophy? We improve only in response through chaos. Order brings only stagnation.
Seren: Perhaps, but there is also imagination and community. When sharing with others, we can learn to see the world differently.

Yeah you've got a fair point there. Saradomin's ways have always seemed very odd to me , it's as if he's trying to trap people in an Orwellian nightmare, dunno if he realizes this himself.

Either way, we unconsciously get stronger out of chaos, take the God
Wars back in the 3th Age and the resulting prosperity by Saradominists rebuilding and reorganizing the world. Take 5th Age quests where player has sided with his biased followers to help ones skills and rep.

In contrast, I think Zamorak knows what he's doing when it comes to chaos, he's made strong individuals out of it, though at the cost of human suffering. Evidently, it's not just the chaos that helps people, but the ability to organize oneself and prosper out of it. Moia's POV:

" As I watched, the people began to move out of their standard patterns, breaking free of monotony and routine. They created a line and passed containers of water from one to another, the last in the line dousing the flames as yet more followed. Leaders sprang up and began to spread order amongst the chaos and healers appeared to tend to the wounded. Suddenly their lives had meaning, and I watched in amazement as they took this tragedy and turned it into the foundation of a stronger society. "

In the end, I think the balance needs to be shifted more towards chaos in the Sixth Age, the previous ones have had too much stagnation and as a result we've had slow progress and only minor changes and events. Look where the unraveling of all this chaos has gotten us. We've received new skills to boost our other skills and create new devices, we've revived entire cities, explored new planes, and we've gotten useful things in return and improved ourselves out of it. Guess you could call me a chaos druid - for the time being ofc...
