I once made the suggestion that the reason the PC is different is down to their soul and not their DNA. For Example, The Elder Sword was shattered and these artefacts are some what...odd. They do have a form of energy very similar to what makes both divine energy and soul energy. Reincarnation is a thing. So... LOL + LOL = ROFL. In English, if what makes the sword behave like it did meant it was partly alive (use soul energy) then maybe that could be reincarnated when the sword was shattered... And you could get something like us.

Totally out there I know. But we started out with that potential, it was not grafted on after. By human standards, somewhat spectacular in combat prowess and learning, and then we got a buff in the form of the WG powers later.

It could be something else had a hand, it would only have taken a helping hand, not to make but to guide and nurture. It could have been done before, we wouldn't know. But if there were other attempts, they failed. We made us what we are with hard work and a thick skull.
The purpose of adventure is to shine light into dark places,
Poke monsters with a sharp stick, Then steal anything that isn't nailed down!

Well, while I do think we're human...we're more than Superhuman at this point. We've crossed every boundary this universe has to offer, we've gone toe to toe with the mightiest mortals, faced off with monstrous creatures that defy the imagination and put our foot down when gods got in our way.

We've mastered the Physical, the Mental, the Spiritual, we're craftsmen and artisans so gifted we'd be spoken of in legend for all time just because of that (just wait until Mining/Smithing lets us make that godly Tier 92 armor), much less our Arsene Lupin levels of thievery, masters of parkour, peak apothecaries, and even inventing devices that will revolutionize the future of humanity.

This makes makes sense. World guardians (PCs) don't like to have limits on their behavior. Normally what happens is humans get suppressed and are forced to obey, yet in us this dynamic differs. It's why you get this exceptional behavior in the 6th age. it's that part of us that says no I won't and you can't make me. It became really strong after Guthix's death, so we were not able to put it back in the box.

We don't know why: stubborness, the sense of the hypocrisy we're dealing with etc. makes us realize we don't wanna end up like ninety nine percent of the humans that look back at their lives and say I could have. Instead we've made those hard decisions that other humans can't make, and have influenced the world by changing the dynamic in a supernatural way.

What's that video game where the player character is from a realm where everyone's fate is predetermined, but some npc decided to reanimate the dead via magic, and what popped out was the pc, reincarnated (in a way) such that they were no longer bound by fate. And this could be extended to affect the fates of others around you (ie: npc is about to die in the way they were fated to, you step in and now they are safe)

Could our RS pc be like that? We have residual memories of a past life. But because we were brought back in an unnatural way, Death doesn't quite know what to do with us, and our weird status grants us a faster learning curve.

I think that game you mentioned was Kingdoms of Amalur or something to that effect. And if I'm remembering it right, the main catch with that game's plot was that the PC's death before the game even started was their ultimate fate, but the resurrection stuff that kicked the whole thing off wasn't.

I can't see that being the case here because last I checked, us coming back after death was explained with some kind of 'people with important destinies get to come back' clause. Which implies to me that, whatever our final destiny is, we haven't done it yet.

But...

The whole stuff with Xau-Tak having an interest in us across space and time reminds me a lot of games like Undertale, OFF (kinda), and a few other games I can't recall the names of where characters break the fourth wall and address us directly and our avatars are characters with their own backstories and such that we just happen to control. I can't see an exact replica of such a scenario occurring here, but between talk of an Elder God 'without form', Xau's seeming existence outside of conventional time/space, and many references to us not being normal...it wouldn't be surprising if it all turned out to be some sort of metagaming plot on Jagex's part.

We're not human anymore, no.
We were human when we started this crazy adventure of ours. But as Solly up there said, the soul is easy to change. Sliske did it to us so we could fit Nomad well enough. It's not in our DNA, it's in our soul. Our soul has transcended what it means to be human. We are simply... something more.

I think this is a really good idea, It makes a lot of sense. We are able to do so many more things that are simply outside the reach of normal humans that we do casually.

I would say right now our character is bordering on demi godhood, or at least is an immortal meta human.

How many times has our character died? Both in quests such as Blood Runs Deep, and in game?

Although I have played all 17 years, sometimes I did not pay as much attention to
the lore as i should have therefore now when i go back and think about things, i try
to find the answers.

In trying to find out the answer to who we start out to be all I can say is I am glad
the backstory is vague, after all I am unique because I have crossed all boundrys,
I have fought beside gods and pitted my mind against other Gods and won.
