I'm with Half Centaur; it makes sense thematically. Perhaps this is a teaser for a Dark Beast graphical over-haul?

Not out of the question, certainly. Though if Dark Beasts were getting a rework, I'd hope Jagex would stick to the appearance of its Slayer mask/helm this time or at least adjust the mask and helm to match their new appearance. *cough* abyssal demon graphical update *cough*

Almost certain that's a stylized dark beast
I don't think so. Dark beasts have small horns around the edge of their head and a large horn in the center. This thing has large horns around the edge of its head, and only small horns in the center.
Yeah, now.
It's also the most outdated model that could possibly fit this, and fits thematically.

Again, I'd hope that they'd use the associated Slayer Mask/Helm for the updated graphics (since they don't seem interested in updating the masks/helms to match the monster).
I also pointed out the apparent physiological similarities to the hunlief (wolf-bear with horns) to postulate a relationship between them, and the hunlief was a monster on Tarddiad.

I seriously doubt it's a hunlief, especially considering that they're extinct.
Hence why I specified related to and relationship between. Like how a house cat is related to a sabertooth tiger despite the sabertooths being extinct.
