OP, the wiki is a great place to find lore. It's how I learned most of what I knew before I started questing.

The wiki is suitable for a primer at best, and even then everything should be taken with a grain of salt. There's a lot of unfounded nonsense that's been repeated so many times that even the J Mods have confused it for canon a handful of times. Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

Some people aren't a huge fan of the wiki. Reason being is that it is somewhat bias. For example, the wikia portrays Zamorak as the "satan" of Runescape, when he is in fact a grey character and has redeeming spots. The wikia also sugar coats Saradomin and all his good spots and does not take his bad parts into deep depth, which is understandable. It is hard for any "primer" to stay neutral. One has to take a side, and many people will consider it "bias" if it does not go their way. The wikia may say Seren is the goddess of peace and tranquility. Some opposing person may say you are giving her too much credi,t and she deserves to be touched upon more with her fiasco with the Mahjarrat, etc.

If that's an issue, I haven't noticed. My problem with the wiki is that it's often outdated and has information that isn't sourced and likely pulled from someone's ass. It's little more than fanfiction yet it remains unchallenged.

One famous example is Azzanadra's participation in the Battle of Uzer...the battle he DIDN'T participate in because he was clearly locked in the pyramid at this time. Nevertheless this was repeated ad nauseam by gullible people who believed the sourceless wiki so much that it was practically considered fact. It got to the point that it was referenced in Dishonor Among Thieves even though it was impossible for this to happen. Eventually this was corrected, but it just goes to show you how inaccurate and unchallenged the wiki can be at times. Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain.
