Going over transcripts again to try and remember stuff, I realize that in Nomad's Elegy you can ask Icthlarin about many afterlives, but the Menaphite afterlife his own worshippers go to is strangely omitted. I missed the underworld Halloween event, was it described there? Or by Senliten at some point? Given the heavy lifting from Egyptian mythology with her canopic jars and burials goods, would it be similar to the Egyptian afterlife?

Otherwise it's really weird that the option to ask about it doesn't come up. Like, I can understand not talking about the Fremmy one since we've seen it personally in Blood Runs Deep.

While we're at it, how would he not know what the Zarosian afterlife looks like/guide a Zarosian to the afterlife? Did he have a "no Zarosians served" clause in effect at the end of the 2nd age when Zarosians were dying left and right? Can he only go as far as the entrance, but not inside? Is there supposed to be some deeper mystery here to be revealed later? Is stuff being pointlessly mysterious just part of Zaros' schtick?

Well I've always had the theory that Zaros takes the souls of his followers to either eat them for power or use them in experiments. We know that Death severs their soul but they never make it to Icthlarin. Something must happen to Zarosian souls after severing to prevent their arrival in the underworld.

Good. Never let anyone think differently

I can't recall if the Halloween event had anything about the Menaphite's afterlife, but I vaguely remember a Jmod comment around Elegy's release about Icthlarin possibly never personally ushering a Zarosian to their afterlife. Can't remember if that confirmed the Zarosians even had an afterlife to begin with though since we're talking about an empire that had creatures who either don't get an afterlife by nature (Mahjarrat) or would be interested in keeping souls for their own uses (Demons, Mahjarrat, maybe some mages doing soul research).

Or there could just be another mystery curveball that's being kept under wraps about that for some reason.

Somebody, I can't remember who, brought up the little blurbs in the lore about demons in the underworld, and proposed that Zaros employed/employs a demon to usher his followers souls in between life and the afterlife.

And that makes reasonable sense given he was not on the best terms with the Menaphite Pantheon and the very apparent dislike of necromancy that Death (who is on very good terms with Ichtlarin) has. By establishing his own 'man' to ferry the souls of his followers, Zaros ensures that neither Icthlarin's dislike for him nor Death's dislike for necromancy and friendship with Icthlarin would inhibit the transportation of souls for the purposes of necromancy.

The menaphites do have an afterlife - or at least that is what they believe in. It all really depends on which desert being you follow, e.g., Elidinis, Tumeken, Crondis, etc.

If you recall in the quest The Death of Chivalry, Sir Owen dies and the player is given a bunch of dialogue questions to recite a prayer to his corpse [of course Saradomin ends up reviving him later on, but that's not important.] What you might not remember was that there were funeral rites for practically every god in the game (except for Xau-Tak and the QoA, as they weren't revealed yet.) You can check it out on the rs wikia if you want. Here is a link:

Followers of Amascut have a pretty straight-forward post-mortem death. Most of Amascut's followers either worship her out of fear, they are plain crazy in the brain, they somehow justify her actions as logical, or were deceived somehow. Anyway, by worshiping her, you are promised a swift and painless as possible devouring by her. Amascutans all willingly face oblivion and are devoured by her or her beasts - erased from existence. I don't blame them. Some people just want to be forgotten forever.

I don't really like the idea of there being a single menaphite emissary. I would like one for each of the desert pantheons. I mean, Elidinis had her own exclusive followers etc. and what not.

Wow... I had no idea there were so many options for that part of the quest. Thanks for pointing to that part of the transcript.
Patrolling Lore FC almost makes you wish for a Great Revision.
