I'm on the same page as Hazeel is, coulnd't have said it better my self.

You would atleast expect better from it all.
But even video game characters and story's are often disappointing.

Still, in many ways the player character is just like the god's them self.
"If you believe you can distance yourself from the harm you cause, you're deluding yourself. You're not some mindless tool. You're accountable. Your actions will catch up with you eventually." -Jedi Master Jun Seros; Swtor Bounty Hunter storyline.

I'd say Saradomin struggling to grapple with his own humanity has been a fairly consistent character trait since the 6th age began.
not a great idea from the start, though. if you take a character that's lived for (tens of) thousands of years and have them start "grappling with their humanity" or some other internal conflict, it runs the risk of making them look incompetent and insecure. it only took Bill Murray ~10 years to become a good person; after so many millennia Saradomin should be the God of Wisdom that he's supposed to be.
Patrolling Lore FC almost makes you wish for a Great Revision.

Probably the result of them introducing...what...five factions that want peace and order? Well shit, guess we gotta diversify them a bit or they'll all be carbon copies of each other. So now Saradomin is over emotional, Armadyl plans to bring peace by being a warhawk, Seren is an unstable mess, and the Godless don't know what the hell they're doing.

Probably should have limited the factions a bit. Keep Seren dead for now. Remove Sliske since players can't really join him anyway. Go back to the old concept of Zaros. Honestly wondering if the Godless should even be a proper faction or an optional group the player can start if they want to follow Guthix's wishes.

As for the rest of the Gods, keep them in line with their ideals, just give the ideology itself a bit of an extremist edge instead of making every single God a hypocrite and poor leader. Saradomin could be focused on the greater good, but cold, logical, uncompromising, and a bit tyrannical in his approach. Zamorak should be as ambitious as his ideology would suggest, but amoral at best and completely sadistic at worst. A naive Armadyl who has unrealistic, if not impossible goals, would have been a nice contrasting peaceful option to Saradomin.
Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.
