I've been playing Fist of Guthix the past few days due to the Minigame Spotlight. It's an interesting minigame from a lore standpoint, as it's all but outright stated that the "Fist" is actually the imprint left by the Stone of Jas when Saradomin stored it in the cave during the God Wars (before Zamorak stole it). Ergo, when we play the minigame, we are siphoning the residual power of the Stone of Jas for reasons unknown to us.
I used to love FoG back when it was first released, so I decided to refresh myself on the lore related to Fiara, the druids who have set up camp there, and of course FoG itself.
As I was doing this, however, something jumped out at me: according to the old Postbag from the Hedge loredumps from back in the day, a certain Guthixian organization was tasked with protecting the Fist of Guthix. One that recently reappeared after disappearing from the plot after Guthix's assassination:
The Crux Eqal.
The Stone of Jas itself is gone now, of course: destroyed by Kerapac during Sliske's Endgame. And there are very few places (at least, that we know of) that were exposed to the Stone long enough to leave obvious levels of residual energy (the Glacor cave being the only known exception, thanks to Lucien's use of the Stone). As a result, thanks to the help of adventurers, the Crux Eqal is perhaps the only organization who currently has reliable access to the Stone's power... even if that power has likely diminished over the centuries.
Now, we know that the minigame has largely been forgotten over the years. And these days, whether the Postbags are still canon is... questionable. But it begs the question: assuming this is still canon, do you think the Crux Eqal might try to weaponize the siphoned power of the Stone of Jas, gathered by adventurers, in the coming Elder God Wars?
