This is very interesting. But it brings the question we were face to face with Jas and we were able comprehend and understand we were in front of an ELDER GOD, THE ELDER GOD and we were fundamental able to comprehend and visualize what was in front of us.
How could Xau-Tak be something like that if an Elder God itself wasn't?
Imagine the entire universe in a single box. The Elder Gods would probably be the supreme ruler of that particular box but there are other boxes out there which may have other gods/Elder Gods. The laws that are on the other boxes may be entirely different from the laws in the current universe box.
This might explain the use of the word "corruption" which may mean altering or tainting the original state of things. By interacting with the current universe box, the laws in the box might start to change.
The question is how would a multidimensional being from another box be able to enter this current box. Imagine two dots on a paper at opposite sides. The only way for the two dots to meet at the same point is to bend the paper until the two dots meet. (aka wormhole) This means that in order for Xau-Tak to cross into our universe, the plane which both universes lie have to be bent. This would of course mean that a lot of energy (Anima Mundi) is needed to make that wormhole which would leave "oceans of corpses".
Why hasn't Xau-Tak appeared yet in its total glory and power and wreck our current box? The Anima Mundi that Xau-Tak has gathered may not be enough to bring Xau-Tak through to this box but just enough to leave its influence behind. Another possibility is that Xau-Tak needs to taint our universe to make the conditions suitable for a multi-dimensional being to exist.

if you could alter your form to that of an ant, you probably wouldnt use that power to become the ruler of ants...
unless there are some very scary chaps trying to find you, who wouldnt find you if you were hiding away in an ant hole dressed as an ant

Maybe not leave his universe...Use his tentacles to drag our universe into his? Enslave our dimension as the cosmic conqueror like Dormammu!

The difference is that whoever wrote that scene in Sliske's Endgame was a less competent storyteller than Mod Wilson.
This. Making the Elder Gods something the player can talk to, let alone bargain with, is Salt In the Wound level of disappointment for me.
Isn't there supposed to be a formless Elder God? Not saying Xau-Tak IS that, but it does suggest you can have abstract, formless intelligent lifeforms in this setting. So something with a non-euclidean body plan doesn't seem so far fetched.

Hey remember when I said that Dimension of Disaster means that we live in a Multiverse, each with its own set of Heroes, Gods, and (most importantly) Elder Gods? Yeah this sounds like you're agreeing with me and that makes me happy.
... What if Xau-Tak is a sole-surviving Elder God from another dimension that's trying to break the dimensional barrier so it can come to feed on the Anima of this dimension instead?
A
I read somewhere that there used to be a lot of Elder Gods, but for whatever reason, there are only the half dozen remaining today.
If Xau-Tek is described as a planetary corruption, I think it would be interesting if it was this scary unknowable force that caused the death of multiple Elder Gods in the past. Perhaps Xau-Tek even corrupted/drained the Anima on Frenskae, giving Mah her developmental issues.
