In this post, I am going to talk about some of the more subtle things about Sliske using his books, as well as recent information from quests this year. Sliske has a plan for the player character, and he is cryptic about it.
In
The Divine Delusion
, a scientist named Oreb researches the soul and concludes that it has no relation to the divine, the gods, and that it is a more tangible substance capable of being harmed, and that the souls is greater when it has experienced more things. The soul is, or has connection to, anima. The anima we train on is from Guthix, and the great amount of it we find to train with may reflect just how powerful he was, as well as the experiences he had. A lot of it is tied in with his memories, which further connects experience to anima.
Of interest to Sliske, at the end of
The Divine Delusion
Oreb postulates on the possiblity of being able to transfer one's soul into another vessel. He states, "Indeed, if one could find a compatible host, it could conceivably be possible to transfer a soul to the new host. What effects this could have I cannot say. Still, progress demands experimentation" (Oreb). We can further expand on this from a section from
Sliske's Ramblings
, where he states, "We're not as similar as I had hoped, are we? It won't work unless I can make them more...compatible" (Sliske). Them is a way to refer to a person as gender neutral, which is appropriate as the player can be either race. I feel like this connection, coupled with Sliske's obsession with the player character, suggests that Sliske might be trying to take over the World Guardian's body. In the same text, he states that he is happy that he had not ascended by killing Guthix, which might have complicated things since Gods do not have an afterlife. This may mean that some damage is done to the soul, but I do not have enough information to elaborate on that.
