This theory just popped in my head. Aeternam is a ancient guardian of guthix, the very first world guardian, she is known for her time ability and the fact that she froze the god wars dungeon. We know that Gyspsy Aris is a Guthixian, she also is able to freeze time and very old, so perhaps they can be the same? EXP is not important, it's important to have fun and play with your friends. :) - Lopendebank3

It's been shown that Aeternam had become the Balance Elemental in WGS.

That said, however, due to the nature of time travel it is possible that Aeternam split herself and made clones of herself in different timelines. And one of them could indeed be Gypsy Aris, at least.

First, can I get a source for Aeternam freezing the GWD. I can't seem to find one.

Second, maybe, but I doubt it.

For one, Gypsy Aris was active in the world after the creation of but prior to the defeat of the Balance Elemental. Aeternam is described as a shattered witness across time and not actually a time traveller, so I find it unlikely that there'd be a second Aeternam around while they were merged into the Balance Elemental.

Aeternam froze GWD. Not sure of the official source, but here's the wiki link.

I could believe that Aris is a reincarnation or avatar of Aeternam, or something. She is sharded across time, so I'd be up for it.

(I theorized a loooong time ago that Aris was a Guardian of Guthix, so I love this idea!

Yeah, I saw the wiki, but it lists no source for that claim. And seeing as I couldn't find the source myself, I decided to be a bit skeptical and not put my trust in that claim.

That's because it's from a campaign on Armies of Gielinor on Funorb: http://funorb.wikia.com/wiki/Armies_of_Gielinor/Guthix_Awakens#God_Wars

On a different note, it wouldn't be the first time an epic character hid in place sight under a false name. Remember when Ali the Wise was revealed to be Wahisietel in Ritual of the Mahjarrat?

It would also explain why Aris is so secretive about her age. As a Guardian of Guthix, she has eternal life and has been alive for centuries, longer than any human.

If Aeternam is Gypsy Aris, perhaps the reason she didn't show up to help the other Guardians of Guthix was she saw how it went down and didn't interfere as it would have ended the same.

Main question is, could Aternam's temporal powers be related to linking alternate universes, like in Dimension of Disaster? Because it's kind of a strech otherwise.

I think it's perfectly feasible.

HOWEVER, I want to know how Zemouregal was able to kill her in DoD.

Yeah, but that wasn't exactly subtle. Jagex doesn't really do subtlety.

Because, despite having the eternal life, she is still able to be killed by mortal means.

Also, in regards to her time magic, it's shown in Recipe for Disaster, that she has to remain in place while casting Tempus Cessit and its limited to a certain, meaning she can't retaliate against Zemouregal while he's frozen and making the spell utterly useless in combat, not to mention the risk of causing a temporal paradox with it.

I wasn't around in the quest scene back before ali was revealed to be wahi, so I don't know if people were aware of it or not
I do know that I *knew* that koschei was kharshai (and by knew I mean it made a great deal of sense and I'd have been very disappointed if I had ben wrong)

as for how zemouregal kills her...
Many of the guardians aren't very effective in combat away from the place they're meant to be guarding. As examples, Juna's completely ineffective in tww and fiara gets killed very easily, but in their guardian sites they'd be quite nearly unbeatable
not that all guardians guard something (ocellus just wanted to fit in so he created something to guard)

If she had been able to defeat the culinaromancer alone, she probably would have. Instead she freezes time and sends you to do it
