as for how zemouregal kills her...
Many of the guardians aren't very effective in combat away from the place they're meant to be guarding. As examples, Juna's completely ineffective in tww and fiara gets killed very easily, but in their guardian sites they'd be quite nearly unbeatable
not that all guardians guard something (ocellus just wanted to fit in so he created something to guard)

If she had been able to defeat the culinaromancer alone, she probably would have. Instead she freezes time and sends you to do it
She lives outside of time, right? So that likely means that she doesn't even have a form to fight with. And it also means that she's a ghost or something that gives information because there isn't really anything else she can do.

This might also explain Xau-Tak saying stuff about us in the Second Age way before we were born. Guthix and Seren worked together to create the Amserdrwys, and I think Aeternam was involved. She might even have multiple forms but chooses to never have one that fights directly because it might completely screw the fabric of the universe.
Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

I think in this case, no.
We do know that Aeternam was made into the Balance Elemental, then before the end of the 5th Age, we defeated the Balance Elemental and before the moment of death, the fragments of it were sent to their home plane (or whatever you want to call it).

So what does this mean?
Well, you're implying that yes, Aeternam could co-exist in her own timeline at multiple points.
We do know that trying to understand time travel is difficult and convoluted. (It's like trying to understand politics, women, cats, or taxes all at the same time.)

So the sequence of events:
Aeternam is made into the Balance Elemental
The Balance Elemental rests for several Ages at the bottom of the cavern with the SoJ.
The player comes along and defeats the BE.
Aeternam literally returns to the point after she was made into the BE (Along with the others)
She now lives a long life, semi-outside of time and eventually takes up the name of Gypsy Aris.

One of the holes in the argument is that the Balance Elemental knew the player.
If you read thru the dialogue, the BE talks about how it was at our funeral, it knew us, etc etc.
Now Aeternam's nature allows for several different views:
- Aeternam was able to perceive the future because of her ... condition. So while not physically there, she was still relatively present in a psychic form.
- The BE was just trolling the player
- It isn't that Aeternam is Gypsy Aris ... but Gypsy Aris is Aeternam. Gypsy Aris could be a younger version of Aeternam who eventually goes back in time.

Well, it's known that Aeternam is sharded across time, and this could very well be one of her shards. There's nothing to stop a shard from existing at the same time as her form in the Balance Elemental.

@Delta, I was a bit confused by your post, and not sure what you're getting at. ^

@Elf ..
I know. That's sort of the point.
This is a very confusing topic.
Trying to understand time travel is harder to understand than most of the stuff I write.

I was basically saying that either Gypsy Aris isn't Aeternam at all. Or Gypsy Aris herself will BECOME Aeternam.

Sort of like how we became the World Guardian and Guthix learned he was going to die.
We went back in time (as the World Guardian), told him he made us that way and oh yeah ... Guthix died.
Guthix raged after we left and then accepted it. Then put things into motion so all of this would happen again.

My head hurts.

(I actually understand what you mean lol)

I think I disagree with your theory of her *becoming* Aeternam. I think it's something to do with her curse, if Aris is indeed a shard.

I don't think it's ever been elaborated on, but I theorize that the curse has to do with her never being able to enter the afterlife, and being forced to live across time. I guess doing that would make her omniscient?

Idk. now that I say it, maybe when a shard dies, its memories are transferred to her... But then she would already have the memories, so why would it matter...

...

I hate this.

Sounds like an interesting theory. But if Gypsy Aris is a shard of the ageless Aeternam then why did Aris claim to be at most several hundred years old? Deathless I see, but even immortals will not escape my wrath!

I don't buy it, simply for the fact that Aris doesn't need to be that mysterious, and there is certainly no value in saying she is one and the same as Aeternam.

Perhaps in the same circle, but not one and the same. I'd love if Gypsy Aris were a source of information for our predecessor/descendant's history. (At least, in our past, if not our future.)

But I find it stretching and worth very little to fold Gypsy Aris into the role of Aeternam. BUT, if they were one and the same, then the reason she was not present throughout our adventures as Adventurer, and then World Guardian, is simply that the Balance Elemental as a whole was the guardian; Aeternam was simply a portion of it.

At the point in time where Guthix was assassinated, the Balance Elemental had been freed by us. Gypsy Aris/Aeternam would not have been able to claim a spot as a Guardian of Guthix, because she wasn't one.
