Do we know what the Jmods envision for these characters?

Are they to become another list of über powerful characters? whose names and stories we learn one by one over the years? like the Mahjarrat for years, and then the gods, and then the elder gods, and now the dragonkin and elder artifacts?

If so, I see how it keeps lore hounds hooked for the long haul - especially if a certain amount of mystery is developed around each new revelation.

But I'm also skeptical of this strategy. Not even the story of the Mahjarrat has been properly concluded. Early on, the Mahjarrat were introduced as a small and powerful tribe of sorcerers whose very existence was a threat to human civilization on Gielinor.

Since then, we've come to know the Mahjarrat better and perhaps even have friends among them, but in many cases their ultimate motives remain unclear - and the human populations still lack a clear policy concerning how to relate to a group of beings who might wipe us out should opportunity or whim arise.

For years, I had thought that the Mahjarrat storyline would end with us banishing every single one of them from Gielinor. I see now that there are many other ways to secure a reasonable expectation of peaceful coexistence and cooperation - but we have yet to achieve any of them.

The same goes for the other storylines - great threats to human life, and indeed all life in the multiverse, remain. As world guardian, I'd like to do some guarding of my world.

So, in light of this, I ask: Will the Magisters become just another list of powerful components of interplanar politics, to whom we may never respond in a comprehensive manner?

I raise the question for another, more personal reason. As some of you know, I've been developing lore theories and extensive headcannon for years, meant to deepen the existing lore. I had planned to compile all of this in November.

Part of it involves an account of Lesarkus - the mysterious figure I'd cast as a long dead human, the first successor of Ikov as ruler of humans in the Armadylean empire, and founder of the Armadylean school of mysticism . My account and the emerging lore may be reconciled, but I'd like to have some idea of the direction the Jmods want to take the Magisters before I go about adapting my own writing. For example, I could work their stories together; I could present my story as a pious Armadylean legend rather than historical fact; or I could describe a second historical figure, misidentified, perhaps for intriguing reasons, with Lesarkus the Magister in later historical accounts.

Thanks for reading!

Yeah, I'm surprised they went this route for Lesarkus. But you have to admit that the Magister storyline will be entertaining, especially since we don't know what Saradomin's role is in all this or how he will react...

P.S. Does this mean the new Planar Theory will be out next month?

Yes, I'm interested to see what they do...

And yes, that's my hope. Have you seen the draft, taking up most of Last Prophet's thread to which I linked above?

Well we know there is a rather vile clique some where in Temple Knights, who's methods are somewhat questionable. E.G> planning to use sea slug research to force planet wide obedience to their Order. Try to take over Asgarnia by basically lying, something the White Knights would be very upset about since tlying is an instant expulsion sin in their eyes... ect ect.

So I was wondering what if this clique links back directly to the Magisters?

I think it would be fascinating to have the Magisters as enemies. Usurping the none existent authority Saradomin has and taking full control of their world, then seeking to dominate others. It's what humans do after all, and aren't we so damn good at it?

Although I can't imagine them staying on Teragard if they decide to make themselves a known threat to us.

Saradomin is rather involved in various storylines, from the Temple and White Knights (Hi, Sir Owen!), the Dragonkin (Especially Kalibath), and possibly the Elder Gods because of Bik. Introducing the Magisters could help solidify Saradomin's role in the various pillars of the Sixth Age.

Since you bring up the Mahjarrat, I think those would be a good comparison. Perhaps the Magisters could play a similar role to Saradomin as the Mahjarrat have done for Zaros and Zamorak? Although, Mod Ollie seemed interested in having Children of Mah set up the Mahjarrat as their own pillar of the Sixth Age. I think giving the Magisters their own piillar would be far too excessive, though. The Magisters should be major characters of Saradomin's side of the God pillar of the Sixth Age. That does sound like a glorified bit role, but I think it would help.

Oreb at least has a part in Sliske's storyline, but we still need the Endgame before we can really understand what it actually is , and I'm hoping Lesarkus is meant for the Staff of Armadyl. That gives us five more Magisters. One could oppose Kalibath, another could be meant for Bik, because while it makes since to introduce her quest with Zaros, Bik being Entrana should relate back to Saradomin somehow. Maybe one could have a heavy tie to the Knights. The last two, though, would be more of a stretch. I hope we could get hear more about Robert the Strong. Is there are particular Magister he's against? Then again, that could just be the same Magister who deals with Kalibath. The last two could be reserved for other things, possibly dealing with Teragard itself.

This would be the perfect reason to justify why we haven't gotten this sort of quest. Because it's heavily overdue... I wonder where Sir Amik fits into all this...

@Attila: Yes I have, can't wait for the full thing! :D
