Saradomin is rather involved in various storylines, from the Temple and White Knights (Hi, Sir Owen!), the Dragonkin (Especially Kalibath), and possibly the Elder Gods because of Bik. Introducing the Magisters could help solidify Saradomin's role in the various pillars of the Sixth Age.
Since you bring up the Mahjarrat, I think those would be a good comparison. Perhaps the Magisters could play a similar role to Saradomin as the Mahjarrat have done for Zaros and Zamorak? Although, Mod Ollie seemed interested in having Children of Mah set up the Mahjarrat as their own pillar of the Sixth Age. I think giving the Magisters their own piillar would be far too excessive, though. The Magisters should be major characters of Saradomin's side of the God pillar of the Sixth Age. That does sound like a glorified bit role, but I think it would help.
Oreb at least has a part in Sliske's storyline, but we still need the Endgame before we can really understand what it actually
is
, and I'm hoping Lesarkus is meant for the Staff of Armadyl. That gives us five more Magisters. One could oppose Kalibath, another could be meant for Bik, because while it makes since to introduce her quest with Zaros, Bik being Entrana
should
relate back to Saradomin somehow. Maybe one could have a heavy tie to the Knights. The last two, though, would be more of a stretch. I hope we could get hear more about Robert the Strong. Is there are particular Magister he's against? Then again, that could just be the same Magister who deals with Kalibath. The last two could be reserved for other things, possibly dealing with Teragard itself.
