Give praise to Almighty Saradomin, Overlord of the Three Kingdoms. Holiest of Holies. Polemarchos Autokrator. Lord of Light and Celestial Archmage!

This affront against our Lord cannot be allowed to stand. The Empty Lord shall pay for this transgression through fire and steel.

What we saw in Azzanadra's Quest was perfectly clear, the contrast between Saradomin and Zaros was as night and day. Saradomin, who seeks to protect Gielinor out of a sense of duty, and Zaros who seeks to become an Elder God out of some warped notion of it being his "birthright." Such arrogance!

We see that before Azzanadra even had the idea of using the Crown Archival to locate the elder god eggs(Mind you, this was very much likely a lie and part of the ploy to steal it), our gracious Lord Saradomin attempted to use it himself for the same purpose! Alas the eggs were immune to the power of the Locator, but we see from this that he always had Gielinor's interests at the center of his heart!

And while the events of DoCII have not yet been fully revealed to us, my blessed brother in arms Sir Owen Sonde gives us a glimpse into what took place:

It feels so frustrating after returning from the burial grounds. Working with Saradomin side by side as we did what we could for the centaurs. Saradomin was more than just some mythical figure. He was a righteous warrior and he used his power without restraint to try and help Fern and her people. Then I come back to this and it feels like they're all following a Saradomin I don't recognise.

A righteous warrior! Who used all the power he could to save the centaurs! For all we know he could've brought them back in numbers greater than ever! Preserving their kind and preventing their extinction! Such nobility! Are we not blessed to have a lord as glorious as this watching over the kingdoms of man?

Is he a perfect lord? Is he infallible? I do not claim as such, yet he is the right lord and preferable to the vile Zaros!(cont below)
I will protect Gielinor. Zaros has no love for its people.

Now for Zaros, let's put his recent actions under the microscope shall we? The one who claimed he was the only hope against the Elder Gods? Let's start with Raksha.

So we come across Raksha's prison and Zaros happens to be there as well, who could easily defeat such a creature himself, instead just leaves us to do so after teleporting away with a shadow anima container! And he gave us a spiel earlier about how Raksha cannot be allowed to be set free! He knew the damage such a beast could cause! You have the power of a god and would leave this to a mere mortal? Well, a powerful mortal yes but a little help would be appreciated!(Going to be real I just came back to Runescape recently and I'm rusty at PVM so I'm going to wait to actually do the Raksha quest, I'm reading a transcript).

Whatever he is planning with that shadow anima as well cannot be good. With his recent acts of raising the Codex and getting the shadow anima container from Raksha, he seems very interested in Shadow Anima, the same kind that we were infused with by Guthix, giving us world guardian powers. And of course, you could swear all kinds of allegiances to him and his little lapdog Azzanadra still gives us this little line at the end of his One Small Favor

I'm sure you have many questions. We have much to attend to, however. Since we first met I have valued not only your practical use, but also your companionship. But you have your responsibilities and I have mine. I will see you at the Monolith. When next we meet, it will be as enemies.

We go through these lengths to help you, and now you turn your back on us Zaros? And you didn't even have the balls to say it to our face, but rather have your sycophant do it for you? I've never been a Zarosian, but I gave him the dark simulacrum because during Fate of the Gods I trusted him, and he assured me he was no threat to my lord Saradomin. I see it was misplaced trust.
I will protect Gielinor. Zaros has no love for its people.

Is it possible he feels threatened by us? By our shadow anima? Regardless, Zaros seems to want us dead. Because that's who Zaros is, he seeks elder godhood at any cost. If that means sacrificing us as a liability for it, or gods forbid Gielinor itself? He will stop at nothing to achieve his so called 'birthright' which by the way, his dearest aunt already denied him.

But treachery isn't a new thing to Zarosians. They in fact had one planned for 5000 years or so! How could the Temple Knights have fooled us? Another example of an imperfection of Saradomin. Such a shame, I was proud to have sworn myself to that organization, to Saradomin. But no more, I am sworn to Saradomin alone now. What courage and faith my brother Sir Owen showed in the face of those vile Zarosian traitors! And put so beautifully into words, better than I could!

Sir Owen:This is... but I... ... No. I will not. Do you even know what Zaros is planning?
Veilinius: He doesn't answer to the likes of us, Sir Sonde. If we needed to know, I'm sure he'd tell us.
Sir Owen: Then how can you know what you're doing is right? Yes, Saradomin has made mistakes. I'm sure he will again. He doesn't need the moral authority of a god to be a leader who wants what is best for his people. He doesn't need to be right all the time to be right. And when the alternative is an ancient, manipulative deceiver... I know where my loyalties lie. And seeing this, seeing you two, I'm more convinced than ever.

I ask you fair lore community, between Sir Owen and Veilinius, who is the blind zealot, and who is the one who stands for righteousness? I thought we Saradominists were supposed to be blind zealots? Nay, it's the Zarosians with their "if we needed to know his plans, he'd tell us" attitude.

Do you Zarosians feel betrayed by this? Cast away to the side? Of course you do. But remember, Zaros was willing to sacrifice his own mother for power.

Consider following Saradomin, if you will.
I will protect Gielinor. Zaros has no love for its people.
