It's pretty spooky. Very Twin Peaks.

They've really hammered into us that Sliske has a million layers. I do like the idea of never really knowing how much was planned. In Kindred Spirits, we think we've gotten glimpse behind the mask , but did we? (in that instance, I think yes) When it comes the final fight, I'm not so sure. Especially giving that laugh......... Continual disappointment is the spice of life.

Ya know, something that struck me as odd was how the World Guardian Unleashed mode happened in the first place.

Back in Kindred Spirits, Sliske beat the crap out of us...and nothing happened like that. We just got wrecked and couldn't do anything about it.

I think he might've ascended without telling anyone between quests (really, how else are we going to explain the turning to stone on death thing?). Maybe it was in response to the power drain from Children of Mah, maybe it was from Guthix's power he took during TWW, or maybe it was just part of his plan all along and nobody picked up on his ascension. Unless we were holding out the entire time, there's not a whole lot I can think of that would be able to trigger that kind of power from us.

I know in the past we were wondering how the hell having World Guardian status was going to let us deal with the gods when it came to combat since apparently the whole thing dilutes magic instead of raw strength. But what if we were wrong and a god physically attacking us activates that unleashed mode? Does that mean we can potentially fight the younger gods now?

Inspired me to make this which I'm moving to this thread: Why, Sliske versus the world guardian, in single combat! And the sight of the battle will be with me forever more... Sliske was a powerful demigod, stronger than any of the others awake at the time, possibly even as strong as Amascut is, and the World Guardian was but a mortal: a human warrior all the same, with all of the strength and power that that entails, but mortal nonetheless, but to see him fight, you would not think of him as a 'mere' anything... He was war itself! Flurry after flurry of blows he rained upon Sliske, and the very shadow realm shook and quivered with their power, but Sliske would not fall! Even with the weapon of a god embedded in him, he fought on, and with each blow our victory seemed less and less certain...

And then nothing. There was a sudden flash of bright light, and then a sudden blink of cold darkness, and it was over. The World Guardian stood over Sliske who was slowly... Fading from existence... And as he faded, it seemed though... It almost seemed as though the World Guardian became more real, more solid than he had been before... And as Sliske faded from this world completely, I heard a voice, almost a whisper upon the wind, cursing all who had helped the World Guardian in his victory, which as you now tell me seems to have been all who were responsible for the staff ending up in the World Guardian's hands in the Heart of Gielinor. As I heard it, I saw that I too was fading, just as Sliske had, and I called my brethren for their assistance, but they could no longer hear my words, nor see my form. It was then that an elder god appeared and banished the World Guardian from the world completely for daring to kill one of their agents, although as it turned out it didn't quite work out that way for them, when he returned stronger than ever, a demigod himself. I have a strange feeling that Sliske's death was a back-up plan or something which he moved forward.

He was clearly very dismayed at SoJ being destroyed, which to me means he still had some plans for it. So, I think his initial plans were thrown out the window.

However, Sliske is (was...?) an immensely powerful being. We all remember the sheer brutality of the beating we took in Kindred Spirits. That time we only saw part of his plan, not destroyed it (or defeated his precious wights). So surely, he'd be even more angry at us than ever before.
So, he still should've handed us our backsides.

Even when we start to get the upper hand, it just doesn't feel like Sliske to fight a losing battle. It strikes me that he'd just teleport away, or disappear back into the shadows from whence he came.

I think Sliske's death was always a part of his plans, maybe not his plans for the endgame, but definitely there somewhere.
Even his death wasn't normal. A god simply becomes a statue until destroyed (not just explodes), but Mahjarrat just seem to lie dead - Lucien didn't explode either.

I think part of Sliske is now within us, a shadow within our minds - rather appropriate for Sliske. Also, I worry that the world guardian has increased greatly in power, and that Sliske can control us occasionally - which is what I think the blackout was at the end of the quest.

Sliske has found a way to transfer his mind from body to body. The ultimate cheating of Death. I expect when our character comes to towards the end of their life, Sliske will once again transfer his mind through the staff.

His physical body may be gone, but I doubt Jagex would simply allow one of their greatest villains to simply fade away... If you only do what you can do, you will never be more than you are now.
