My own theory is..

So, Mah had an egg inside of her. Zaros took that egg. He's going to infuse his essence in to that egg and be reborn as an Elder God. Literally that simple.

How do you know that would be against her self-interests? There is nothing to suggest it would be unless Jas gets less anima and we don't have enough information to suggest otherwise.

You spelled it out yourself. Anima is limited. There wasn't even enough to feed all five Elders last time, so wasting it is a huge taboo. I mean when Zaros comes around saying "Hey make me an anima consuming Elder God because I wanna lead you", it's not surprising that Jas would refuse him, even if it was possible to make him one. This is also the guy who wanted to cause destruction in their nest and try to hold their eggs hostage. I'd say the only reason the Elders don't outright despise him is because he's not a threat.

Geilinor is very anima rich, and it's pretty obvious Mah was sabotaged in some way so there isn't enough evidence to state that there wasn't enough anima last time. Also, Zaros never said to Jas that he wanted to lead them, he just asked whether he could join them no more, no less. The last part of your statement is pure speculation. We don't know what Zaros' exact plans were and neither do the Elder Gods, so they can't despise him. Jas refuses him because he isn't a T1 god. Not because Jas doesn't like him for some reason.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend to be one of those deaf-mutes

I think this is a little too simple...

Doesn't Jas even say that's not how it would work? If anything, I think Zaros won't have a chance until he can meet with Wen. She's most likely the one who corrupted Mah, so Zaros may need to cleanse that corruption first. Because he was directly made by Mah, he might be more "compatible" with Mah's core, but the corruption prevents him from taking advantage of that.

I think Bik is the angry teenager of the Elders, personally. Her chronicle describes her as the youth, and then there's her mouthpiece in Heart of Stone which was aggressive like FulKra was.

Yeah Bik seems to be a bit of jerk if her Kra is any indication. Her Kra refers to her as "the greatest" of the Elder Gods, and says she looks forward to waking up and tossing everything into the abyss.
We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.
