Holstein says that the Godless want a world with "no 'supreme beings' fighting for dominance."

Holstein:
"We do not want to be mere pawns of some greater power. By joining with the Godless, you too can cast off the shackles of the gods, and be free to follow your own path."

Okay, so Godless the godless believe they are being oppressed by divine beings.

What do you think their thoughts might be about Seren and V, "gods" that do not want to be worshiped.

Seren wants to worship us and not the other way around, and V just wants to be a crime-fighting hero like Superman.

Surely the Godless cannot label every god under the same category as some deviant dictator. Seren, being born from Mah, did not choose to be a god, and she even said she would happily give up her life to save Mah if she could. As for V, he accidentally became a god from touching the Stone of Jas while exploring a cave. How can the Godless condemn these people for being something they had little control over.
I worship Mah, for she is mah homegirl! The correct adjective for Mah's followers are: Mahomies, Mah-homeboys, or Mah-homegirls.

I as a follower of V, don't know what could Godless have against us. V's philosophy offers most personal freedom and self-improvement for people of all god factions, exactly as Godless want, buth with more morality than Zammies or Bandies. Less strict rules (contrast Arma/Sara/Zaros) but more morals and conscience - help yourself and others around you, but not be forced or ordered to anything, it's only up to you and us all. And, of course, possibility to take justice in your own hands, which none other faction have.

I would think of us as godless not refusing magic and god power for all people to do good things ;)

Ya and less pasivity than Seren, better to get things done and fight if needed :D

This is precisely why I don't acknowledge the Godless in the same light as other factions.
Also the fact that other factions have philosophies and a way of life, where as the Godless just have a goal.

So I do wonder what becomes of the Godless if they succeed. Do they disband? Do they take on generic tyrants? At what point does 'casting off the shackles' go too far? Will they find something else to target that 'oppresses' them?

Because you're right, Zaros and Seren cannot help being Gods by birth, and their attraction/loyalty ability would only stir things up if word got out.

Holstein specifically refers to Seren's crystal structures as a stain on Gielinor. They are very much against all Gods. I imagine Seren and Zaros would be a particular focus since they were never mortals to begin with. Maybe Zamorak too, depending on what they view as a God. Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

In what way is her crystals a stain? He says he's been to "the cold, crystalline walls of the elf city of Prifddinas" and ended his reasoning right there. But what part did he not like about this? The fact that her crystals felt unwarm? The fact that they were blue? He left his reasoning to why he disliked Seren so vague. Also, by the tiny dialogue, it looks like he didn't even go INSIDE the city and just left upon seeing the walls (which are gone now by the way post Plague's End). Also, what time period was the dialogue taken place? Before or after the city was regrown? Because since God Emissaries were released before Plague's End and all he would have seen was an empty field lol. I suggest Holstein go back and take a look at the city again xD

Why? Maybe because it's "not natural"...or more likely the godless are vehemently against Gods, even against the most peaceful laidback Gods imaginable (Brassica and Marimbo). Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. Well opposing V is easy to rationalize: V went to random worlds, and forced them to do whatever he thought was best for them, and whatever was in line with his ethos. He even starts talking about how he was planning to change the Fremennik in his God Book.

Seren could be opposed because Elves are dependent on her to continue surviving, due to her meddling, but they wouldn't know that. It could just be because Seren has never done anything for them.

I'm more surprised that they would oppose Icthlarin, though, as he is necessary for the functioning of the world at this point. However, he did help cause SEVERAL major issues for the world (like Zamorak, and Amascut did go mad...).

It just depends on how extreme Godless you go.

If I were godless, my thoughts on V are that he'd dead and likely to remain that way

If he were alive though, he'd be a problem... he doesn't seem like a chap who has much respect for all forms of life or cultures. He could land on a planet where something he doesn't like is as normal as breathing and then he'd try to force his ways on them... and it wouldn't work because V is a 'save the world, disappear' type and after he's gone the world will tear itself apart... and even if he did stay that would happen
Saradomin would at least maintain control... and... hopefully Armadyl would try to respect different cultures. He might not, ofcourse, there's a good chance that he wouldn't be too happy with demons and mahjarrat unless they're contained on separate planets from the more peace-loving folk

Indeed V and Seren did not ask for godhood, Seren was born that way and V accidentally stumbled upon Godhood. I believe the Godless has the main argument against gods as not wanting to be controlled, manipulated, forced to serve, etc.

With that in mind, I can see where they would oppose V. As kind as he was, he was going to militarize the Fremennik and Moon Clan to take Gielinor from the other gods by force if necessary. Granted the Fremennik were already a warrior clan made of combatants and hunters, but V had plans to take it even further than that. I imagine the Godless would've opposed V trying to take Gielinor, even if he was only trying to save it from the other gods.

As for Seren, I think their problems with her may be out of her control. The Elves have apparently grown to depend on Seren, her crystals, and her presence. Even though the Elves have no problems with it, and Seren herself cannot control it (and hates it anyway), the Godless will still see it as a form of being controlled and forced servitude.

In the end, I don't think there are any gods the Godless wouldn't try to take down, for one reason or another.
