So with the recent quest we got a bit more information about the lore of renmark from a book at the end. So lets go through and pick out the new info

At first there was just 1 land with its ruler and its people. However with the changing of each season everything in the world changed forms with it, the land and all its people. So in winter you had a snow land, with the queen of snow and ice implings. But when spring came along, the land changed to spring, the queen transforms into the queen of sunrise and the implings turned into blossom fairies. Everyone has no memories of their lives outside their season or seemingly any awareness of their transformations happening

But then guthix appeared and cut away a monster called "mur" from renmarks core. Just on a side note i still think this is actually xau tak but he's got a different name here cus people in rs dare not say his actual name. Anywho when guthix did this, he accidentally shattered the planet into pieces, these fragments then became the seasonal lands. But in addition, the explosion somehow split the people of renmark so their 4 seasonal forms became their own people seperate from eachother. This created 4 seasonal lands, each with its own people and ruler

Winter - Queen of Snow and the Land of Snow
Spring - Queen of Sunlight and the Land of Sunlight
Summer - King of Roses (AKA Santa) and the Land of Glades
Autumn - King of Leaves and the Land of Harvest

First off i would like to point out the significance of them saying the inhabitants of renmark where implings and fairies, this highly suggests that the fairy homeworld of chennanias is connected to renmark and so likely its moon. The mention of implings meaning that the impling realm of puro puro is indeed also likely a part of chennanias/renmark

However a number of issues/ questions about this new story comes up when i compare it with other times renmark and the seasonal lands are mentioned

First lets take a look at the first time these seasonal lands where really brought up, in the 2011 easter event. During this we find the queen of snow and the queen of sunrise battling eachother in the Land of Holly and Hawthorn, a place that is said to be inbetween the lands of snow and sunlight. We learn that these 2 queens battle each other every spring and autumn equinox at this land to pass on a baton called a "year" which symbolises the change in the season

It is explained that autumn and winter happens in gilenor because the land of snow draws near to gilenor. Then it gives way for the land of sunlight to draw near bringing spring and summer to gilenor

So first thing to point out there is a 5th fragment of renmark the book doesnt mention, the land of holly and hawthorn that is inbetween the lands of snow and sunlight, atleast during the easter and autumn equinox's

Next point is how the 2 queens and their lands where described as being the direct opposites to each other. The land of sunlight being a place of eternal sunlight working opposite to the winter land, always made this seem like the land of summer. This made sense with the 2 queens battling and swapping over every spring and autumn, the 2 points inbetween winter and summer. However now this book says that the queen of sunrise and the land of sunlight are actually the spring season?

With the land of sunlight now listed as spring, why is that considered to be the opposite to the land of snow? Shouldnt summer be the opposite land, thus being the land of glades?

Further more it brings the question why do these 2 queens fight eachother again at autumn when it has nothing to do with spring? Spring shouldnt be passing over the season then, that should be either summer or autumn doing that right?

The next renmark mention to bring up is guthix's own account of when he visited it. He said renmark (before its destruction) was a "place of wild nature where four ruling courts of the seasons where in constant conflict, yet maintained a balance of power"

The question that comes to mind here is how where the 4 courts in a constant conflict with each other if (according to this new book) only 1 court and 1 land existed at a time, losing its memories of the other seasons and "going on their merry way". Now you could say how they keep switching from season to season is the balance but guthix really seemed to describe them as kinda at war with each other maintaining a power balance between the 4 courts. The fact guthix says there are 4 courts against each other really describes it differently than "1 court which swaps between 4 forms unaware the other 3 forms"

Guthix also goes on to mention how he only found 3 major pieces of renmark after its destruction. A land of eternal winter, a land of eternal sunlight and a periphery where neither can endure the other (land of holly and hawthorn). This seems to further emphasize how these 2 lands have always previously been described and the polar opposites to each other, ie describing how the land of sunlight was always heavily implied to be the summer court

Finally lets take a look at the summer court from this book, the land of glades. This is described as a place with sprawling sunny glades and the name "king of roses" suggests many flowers too. I'm guessing this is where the enchanted valley is too as we know this is a part of renmark aswell. To me all this says spring more than it does summer. And likewise the land of sunlight being a place of eternal sunlight working opposite to winter says summer to me more than it does spring

So is it just me or are the lands of sunshine and glades and their rulers seemingly mixed up given their names, their aspects and how they've been used and described in previous lore and events? It really feels like the king of roses and his land of glades should be spring while the queen of sunrise and the land of sunlight should be summer. Wouldn't this far better fit the previous event and how the lands of snow and sunlight have always been described as working directly opposite from each other, passing the seasons between these 2?

And as 1 final thought for people to ponder about, what does everyone think of the land of harvest and its king of leaves? This is a place i think we've never heard of before. Who do you think the king of leaves is, is he another holiday aspect and if so who do you think he could be?

Was the King of Leaves actually mentioned? I was kinda tired when I did the quest, so didn't fully take it in... I kind of thought that it could also be referencing the Queen of Ashes, although the 2 Queens and 2 Kings makes more sense...

As much as I Iove any new Xau-Tak lore, I'm still not 100% sold on the idea of him being the entity at the core of Renmark... (At least, not yet anyway...)

It certainly does raise some questions in regard to what we knew then vs. what we know now. "Ptolemos, the friendly, informative Mahjarrat."

Cthris, I really dont think the land of harvest is the fisher realm. The whole theme with this world seems to be seasonal holidays and the fisher realm is more about the whole camalot story. Given that i've always been on the assumption that the fisher realm is somewhere on teragard

John, all this lore was only mentioned in a book on the floor after you complete the quest, somewhere behind the big bonfire. This would have perhaps been a good place to tie in the queen of ashes being the autumn ruler seeing how the first event really introducing her was bonfire night (a holiday in autumn). But no, theres 2 kings and 2 queens according to this new book

As for mur being xau tak, i've got a whole thing about who and what xau tak is using the lore and hints ingame. Problem is if this is indeed a lore fail by whoever wrote this book, it leaves me worried if they're gonna muck up xau tak too and ignore previous things about him again

Hmm, the world exploding into pieces kinda reminds me of how Abbinah became shattered. I wonder if there's a connection there somehow?

Presumably, this is due to the King of Roses having given up his crown. By forsaking rule over summer, Nick potentially opened the rulership of summer to another. And it seems that the Queen of Sunrise subsumed his ex-dominion into hers.

Of course, that doesn't explain why the King of Leaves doesn't participate in the transition between summer and autumn or autumn and winter (or where he is now), but it would suggest that one of the two queens (the Queen of Snow if I had to guess) took possession of his dominion (essentially giving them domains over the halves of the year around their respective solstices).

That, or perhaps the Lands of Leaves and Glades simply don't come close enough to Gielinor to drive the seasons, putting Gielinor's seasons in the hands of the courts of Spring and Winter.
