I've spent most of my time on RuneScape not fully paying attention to lore after 2007 (the year, not the game version). I'd skip through quests and my knowledge is pretty limited to original Gods and some geographically important information.

As the games have expanded over the years, learning the lore is quite intimidating. That being said, assuming I know next to nothing, where would I start if I wanted to learn everything RuneScape lore?

Hi there! It’s great to see people take an interest in the lore of RuneScape, and believe me, it is never too late to dive in!

I would recommend firstly going on the RuneScape wiki to brush up on any quests you have previously completed so you can remember what happened. I would say the main, overarching quest line is the Elder God quest line, which is gargantuan (yet AMAZING). Do some research on all the gods, from the little ones to the Elder gods, to find out more about them. I would advise trying to complete as many quests as you can, because they are so rewarding and a lot of them are so well written. If quests aren’t your thing, you can wiki everything!

I would also recommend the RuneScape: The First 20 Years. It is a brilliant read with everything you need to know about the world of RuneScape and it’s history.

Lastly, I would also advise maybe watching some videos online regarding the lore. There’s plenty out there.

I did this with my main. since id left right before world wakes came out and returned right after prif i wasnt in the know of anything that happened since. so i just grabbed the wiki's release order page and used it as a checklist. now we have that in game so its much easier. just set it to that and do the one on top. theres many times where the interactions between characters change slightly to heavily depending on what and if you did in earlier quests.
