Sacrifice is a proposed Ruinous overhead prayer which aims to add similar cost-reward opportunities to the iconic
Smite
prayer, with relevance in PvM encounters, as well as some novel mechanics and use-cases.
Sacrifice
Can only be activated once every 5 minutes.
Minimum hit is increased to 30 next attack.
Overall accuracy and maximum hit are increased by 55% for 10 seconds.
Prayer is drained by 1/3 of damage dealt for 10 seconds.
Notes on minimum hit increase:
This would supersede the Ancient godsword special's minimum hit of 25; increasing it by 5.
It could also stack with Osmumten's fang passive effect. Example: if your regular minimum hit is 9 with a Fang, your next (affected) minimum hit is 39.
Or, it could not stack. Or, it could cap at 35 minimum damage.
I'd love to hear feedback, and other possible issues which may arise.
I envision Sacrifice's icon to be quite similar to the classic Retribution and Smite overhead prayers—their red and blue holy fire both signalling danger—except that Smite is violet in colour; fitting with the Zaros god-colour. As a veteran player, I feel the similarity of the two legendary overhead indicators with the addition of Wrath would be an over-all thematic service to game; completing a trifecta of overhead pillars of fire.
As violet is a low-contrast colour shift from red or blue, it follows the indicators could become very difficult for colourblind players to identify in PvP.
To prevent this, I suggest a dark pyramid outline in the centre of the purple 'pillar of fire' keeping in Desert Treasure theme. Alternatively, a slightly redesigned 'pillar of fire' featuring lightening striking an altar would help differentiate it from Retribution and Smite.
Being both a veteran PvPer and a new PvMer, I can imagine virtually countless ways to use a prayer like Sacrifice.
I've already put a decent amount of bankstanding into this, so I am open to ideas and useful feedback.
Cheers! Stonks. James Stonks.
