I have heard from many sources that easing skilling content/grind length is something that gets discussed a lot.
I agree with He Box' position in his latest ramble: We should not ease skilling grinds, we should make accessing multiplayer content easier. This IS an MMO, after all.
Take a look at quest requirements and see what skill levels you wind up at easily completing questlines. Once you see what levels you wind up at, make a bell curve for skill effectiveness in raids. Make the center of the bellcurve equal the average skills from quest rewards. also, increase cost to create consumables with lower skills.
Also, a thought of my own. Let's ask ourselves this question:
What could we do to make multiplayer PvM content that takes lower skill reqs? Maybe something where you are MOST EFFECTIVE around level 70 tops. Make it drop some items that would be compelling KO weapons in the F2P or med level PvP scene, and maybe let one boss be available in F2P to tease membership as usual.
I have friends who are parents who would play osrs with me if they had something to do WITH me, but the nostalgia of killing cows wears off quickly. What could we jump into with a couple of hours of play time? What could we improve ourselves to with 100 hours or less? How could this activity be rewarding without breaking current metas?
In summary: Instead of making the game easier, expand the depth of what we already have or create new multiplayer PvM experiences geared to lower level. We need something that acts as a stepping stone to later game content and can be ground by someone working 40hrs a week with a family.
These are the things I would love to see get discussed in the community. I definitely do NOT want to discuss or see changes centered on easier skilling.
