I notice there is quest speed run and leaderboards who finish the fastest. One of my favorite games is final fantasy 7, and although was a hard game for kids, the hardest part of this game wasn't actually the main game. It was a mini-game go figure mid way where you unlock the end game abilities and weapon at Gold saucer.
It worked by rolling a handicap each round of monsters were won, and if you got bad handicaps, the game which was a very simple turn based game was very difficult or just near impossible to beat. Some of the handicaps would turn you into a frog and if you had another handicap to not use backpack, you would lose. The handicaps were stacked on top of each other.
Jagex could do something similar to quests where monsters are boosted, or you get handicap for different levels if there is leaderboard for best questers? Players already give themselves handicap in the game because it's pretty easy. It's called making pures.
This will be some addicting content, like a zombie survival game equivalent. How far can you go as each level gets harder with leaderboards.
