We are able to store frog prince outfit in POH but not the princess outfit ...

That sounds like a bug. Try reporting it first. IF it isn't, it needs to be fixed.

it's by design, as only the prince outfit appears on the storage but not princess

IF you do not have the prince, the princess should store in the same spot.
