I think it would be a great idea to implement an NPC to auto lite incense on gilded alters in player-owned homes - for the purpose of assisting players leveling prayer - for a fee. He/she/it would function similarly to a butler and would enhance the staff of the home owner. Perhaps a demon chaplain or demon minister? Maybe the function of paying the fee could be referred to as a tithe (keeping true to the motif)?
Fees would be per player and would go directly to the home-owners tip jar. The deposit would cause the NPC to auto lite the incense candles for a set period of time.
This would be beneficial for 5 reasons.
1. It would give all players an alterer route towards earning max prayer xp rates even if they (or others players near them) are unable to lite the candles manually with an herb and tinder box..
2. It would take the burden off of home owners and/or the few generous players who are willing to lite candles for everyone else (the players who most often do all the extra work). In this regard it would ensure that all players take responsibility for the service that is made available to them via the hard work of others (especially those with maxed construction). In shorts it’s a way for them to contribute and give back.
3. The guaranteed fees would give more incentive for maxed players to continually offer up their home for other player to utilize.
4. It would take away the common exploitative attitudes of visitors and would end the toxic/abusive chat environments that often arise when incense candles are unlit.
5. A chaplain/minister would be fun and would add to the atmosphere/aesthetic of the player home. There would be lots of room to deepen prayer lore through his/her/its character.
I envision the tithe to be paid by right clicking on the minister/chaplain that roams near the altar.
Perhaps the tithing system could be tired to accommodate a range of player gp budgets? For example, hypothetically, 100 gp=10min, 500gp=30min etc.
