If users had the ability to change their login email or login name account security would be improved, user self service options increase functionality and flexibility of existing systems, a streamlined process for managing user credentials and login details could help boost customer satisfaction due to the login process of OSRS being so drastically different to what users remember from Old School RS.
Users should be able to maintain access to their account regardless of continuity of access with third-party services like email.
Their are already countless observable examples of users loosing access to their emails, followed by loss of access to all associated accounts, let's use the technology to eliminate simple flaws like this one.
