Is your only response to negative criticism telling them to "chill"...? Because we are by all means entitled to agree, or disagree. Instead of trying to dismiss everyone, have an actual discussion. Try to convince us with logic and facts, not YOUR OPINION that you repeatedly claim is a fact. Try that, and maybe we'll actually take you seriously, and not treat you as the troll you've been acting as. A camel is an even-toed ungulate within the genus

This is something we can agree on. 2010-2011 is when things started going downhill and eventually turned into the mistake that is RS3.

I think 2008 was truly the peak of Runescape and the reason this thread is that the current game lacks features found in that version that were a lot of fun.

Edit: Off-topic but 2008 was also the peak of WOW. That's an interesting bit of trivia I thought I'd share. Funny that both games I played back then peaked at the same time.

Quit making stuff up... in terms of player count and popularity, RuneScape peaked in 2006 and 2007. Long live the Wilderness. Long live risk vs reward in PVM. Long live 2006.

before 2008, there was a lot of bots in the game at all times. some people claim the fact it was googled more proves it, but that also includes pvp vids which ceased in 2008. others claim the number of visits proves it, but that also includes people opening and closing the forum for merchanting, which merchants do a lot. it also included world hoping which pkers did as many as 50 times a minute which pkers did before the delays were added, and as many as 120 times an hour afterwards.

jagex said the year 2011 was the year they almost had 3 million active accounts (that's the number of accounts that log in at least 1 time every 2 weeks). of course by then bots had return.

so take your pick on what you believe, but its impossible to know the truth.

as to it being the "best" game in a particular year, it all depends on what people like. since pkers were the second smallest group at the peak, its very possible that the majority would have picked 2009 as the best, before the bots were invited back. but again, this is one of these things that can never be proven. frankly my dear, I couldn't give a dam. never had a river to build one on.

I loved summoning, it's hugely useful and adds some quirky-ness to pvm in the fact you can go charm hunting at wfs or slayer with some helpful drops, but i do believe it would send the game downhill, bosses would suddenly become way easier, item drops would crash in price and a lot of stuff would be way more accessible that it already is, lowering the end game values of things.

As much as I loved summoning, it's a no from me

Would rather have Summoning then Dungeoneering any day. Then again I'd take Sailing an Artsians over Summoning. Ps 2005 was the best year of runescape. We got whips,Slayer,anicents an farming. That's all runescape needed ;P Runescape herb farmer an farming fanatic ^_^
