Gods typically demand an exchange-- your fervor for their blessings. But the empty lord demands more. He demands blood in exchange for power! my main idea for ruinous prayers which fits with the theme of both blood/ancients, and the trade-off concept is very powerful combat prayers which drain both your prayer AND your health. I imagine a berserker style take on ruinous powers, so, negative defense bonuses while using. example could be something like "Sanguinie Strength- boost attack and strength by 35%, but lower defense by 10% drain prayer and hp at x rate. Sanguine Sight- boost range strength and accuracy by 30-35%, lower defense by 10%, Sanguine Soul- increase magic accuracy by 30-35%, magic damage by 10%, lower defense by 10%, Bloodlust- increase attack speed and spell cast speed by 1 tick (if this is even possible), Ancient Zeal- some effect on ancient magics that acts as a sort of "active imbue" while using ancient magicks or something. Soul Eater- drain targets prayer while possibly boosting the effects of your other active ruinous powers. (as in maybe ruinous powers start at a 25% boost, but once you drain 10+ prayer from your target, they increase to 35%). As for protect style prayers, perhaps something like this: Steel Eater- reduce melee damage by 90% while reflecting 10% to attacker( might be OP in some cases i don't know-- but do keep in mind that these prayer can drain your hp as well, so only absorbing 90% of the damage while also having hp drained could still be very dangerous.) of course Arrow Eater and Spell Eater variants. Godsbane- hit through target protection prayers with 10-50% effectiveness. Sacrificial Pact-drain all prayer (50 minimum) to prevent death, instead healing you to x% of your max hp, but probably can't be used in pvp. Overall, these prayers would add strategy involving balancing out the strength granted, by the danger incurred. Stacking these prayers can grant huge power, but possibly at your own peril.

A side note on Sacrificial Pact-- in addition to not being usable in pvp, this effect would have a cooldown on top of it's very large prayer cost. Players hoping to get this benefit, would need to manage the cooldown, keep their prayer at or above 50, and have this prayer active at the time of death. With that in mind-- maybe allowing it in pvp wouldn't be that OP, as keeping it active at all times along with other powerful prayers would drain your prayer and hp quickly, so keeping it above 50 while your opponent is most likely smiting or using Soul Eater would be quite a nuisance, thus activating it only just before dying is the more viable option-- but this may not be usable most of the time, as you'd have to know you were going to die and still activate the prayer prior to that finishing blow-- seems far fetched.
