No, I do like the game changing all the time, but that does not mean I want
YOU
to be able to decide how
I
choose to play my game.

As I have said, they have done the "invasion" thing twice before, and not once did they use it to force people to play a different way. The game has always been about people choosing the way they play their own game.

In the beginning, there was no true safe area. Yes, you could not be pked in lumbridge castle if you were not skulled, but any simple misclick and you would be skulled. Players told Andrew that they did not enjoy constantly being in battle, so they created the wild and made it possible to CHOOSE to fight in other areas by way of dueling.

Then people made it difficult to do other skills with the constant bombardment of duel request, so they created the dueling arena.

So since the very beginning, players have wanted areas they were not forced to be engaged in combat, and jagex listened. So why would they go backwards. Why would they decide to force players to enter combat without any warning what so ever.

Jagex has always stated that the way you play YOUR game is YOUR choice, and no one else has a right to decide how you MUST play it. YOUR suggestion is that YOU get to decide how everyone else MUST play their game.

Adding this kind of thing to existing areas is a Bad Idea because it takes away player agency. If I want to use the bank, just let me use the fucking bank; don't make me maybe have to deal with monsters instead.

However, this could work as the main gimmick for a brand new area. (Maybe sailing could let us discover an island that's constantly under attack by monsters.) If it's only happening in a specific area, players are then free to choose (or choose not) to engage with this content.

You remember the invasion of Fally? It happened right outside the gates of Falador, not inside. Same for the invasion of Lumbridge. No resource was taken away form players. People choose to be involved or not as their game play demanded.

By the by, both of those were the results of people asking the same thing you did. One suggest was to take away the mines and banks of fally so people had to come together to defeat the enemy. Another demanded that lumbridge be change so people were forced to fight there as well. Imagine if people got off tutorial island to a battle royal that they were killed ever few minutes. That was what these people wanted.

Ya I can see that working too. You'd need to have some very high-level resources in that new area, which would motivate some players to get the monsters cleaned up and buildings repaired again. It would certainly give people multiple reasons to hoist the sail.
Still, be careful with words like 'gimmick'; that's something which Constant and his goons would use. It's not about selling something to a player with a purse - it's about making RS better (principally more fun / dynamic).

Why do you think they would force players to play their game your way. They have never done so in the past.

It is not possible to "clear out" an area so you can use the resources. Look at any place where they have resources that have monsters guarding them, such as dark beast guarding runite rocks and you find that players have the ability to hid from the beast. In addition, you have other places to mine runite.

It would be the same for areas like this. They would put what ever invasion force you want some where that people would CHOOSE to fight them, not forced to.

Once again, you are not the first to propose that players be forced to play their game your way and it has never happened.
