With the buff to scythe & cementing the 3 mega weapons for each style in certain combat situations. there's situations in which only 2h Weapon switches are required however in some situations you would still need a dragon warhammer & avernic defender.
Instead make the Elder maul the 2h dragon Warhammer equivalent. This would be similar stats to the dragon warhammer + dragon or avernic defender combined with little practical use as a melee weapon but emulating the defense draining stats of the dragon war hammer. That way players could opt when bringing 2h switches to bring the elder maul over the dragon warhammer + avernic which would still be optimal when primarily using 1h weapons instead.
It would allow for cleaner switches without any power creep and not detract from the dragon war hammers position as the 1h defence draining weapon of choice.
Whilst also making the elder maul relevant in the current meta
