You can use Runelite to play with a Jagex account, you just have to start it via the Jagex Launcher instead of logging directly into the client like you are used to. Runelite is an option there:

I am also having this issue, even when using RuneLite via the Jagex Launcher. I can log in just fine with the official client but RuneLite no longer works. I get 'invalid credentials' message, and it tells me to use the official launcher, which I already am..
