Hi All,

As you know, you never really quit Runescape, you just take long breaks :)

I want to comeback after not playing OSRS for 7 years and don’t really know where to start. I stopped playing right about the time Monkey Madness 2 came out, so you have an idea :)

I am maxed combat with 99 slayer and 2k total and used to be in the PvM Clan Oblivion. Meaning that I can access most content. However, 0 GP in the bank and no clue on where to start.

There has been a lot of updates, and I have kept an eye on most of them through watching Youtube videos and Streams once in a while. Raids, Nex, Gear, etc.

I would very much appreciate if you guys could recommend me on where to start and what are some of the must do’s. I know that I need to update my basic gear, complete some main quests , etc. But I have no idea where should I go to rebuild, what gear/items to aim for first, etc.

Looking forward for some tips and very excited to comeback :)

Also, I guess all of my in game friends quit, so if you enjoy some PvM please feel free to add me in game :)

Thanks in advance!
Dela

Hey Dela,

First of all, welcome back! Like you said, most of us veteran players never really quit we just take an extended vacation! :P

The beauty of the game is that everyone plays differently, so what may be fun and the path one player chose tot take, may not be be the same for you.

After reading your post some general guidance for you would be the following (spoiler alert):

1) To build back your bank, consider some early bossing again (e.g. Barrows, God Wars, etc.) until you have some decent gear again. This also makes fairly decent gold as well.

2) Consider starting up slayers tasks, birdhouse runs, farm runs again and completing some of those newer quests like Dragon Slayer 2 and possibly fight bosses such as Vorkath when on task for blue dragons, or basilisks for the best in slot Neitiznot faceguard.

3) I would then aim for being able to do Zulrah and some of the easier raids such as Chamber of Xeric, or bosses such as Abyssal sire or Venenatis . You could probably look up some of the other best in slot gear at this point and work towards them, including the elite void set.

Hopefully this is useful to you, but as I said everyone does things differently. I would definitely consider finding another clan (or rejoining your old one) so players can help get you up to speed and partner with you for Godwars, etc.

If this account wasn't a level 3 skiller (or I wasn't playing a group hcim on the side) I would be right there with you!

Cheers,
Daylight :)
Good vibes and high tides.

Welcome back, i'm certainly nowhere near 2k total and never have been but I think a lot of new content that's been added since you were last here should be doable for you. Not to mention the many quests that have been added since as well.

There's also an in game activity advisor near your minimap which gives you pointers as to what achievements you could work towards next (skilling, questing, bossing etc)

Most importantly, have fun and welcome back! :)

Welcome back! I recently came back this year, too!

For starters, definitely do all Hard Achievement Diaries if you can, the QoL items are SO useful. Doing the Varrok, Ardy, Karamja, and Mortania Hard Diaries are a great start.

Secondly, start questing :) . MM2 is a great place to start, the rewarded seed pod gives you unlimited teleports to the Gnome Stronghold AND can be used up to level 30 wilderness (super helpful for those wildy slayer tasks).

Farming + Bird house runs (hunter), start building up your herbs with farming and do bird house runs for bird nests. (These can be sold to net you some low effort coin).

In terms of making money with combat, slayer is still excellent. Get a black mask, whip, and a dragon defender- all of which are very obtainable.

Lastly, if you need a clan- let me know! We do a lot of PvM and my clan mates who raid are always willing to help people learn. The only requirement is to be kind.

Cheers

Having 0 gp in the bank is the real problem, despite of the other things other users suggested may be viable... but only for players with decent gear and supplies.

I'll suggest the easiest way, although it may not sound very noble, to players with 0 gp:

Go to some popular slayer locations and pick up garbage other players left on the floor, sell them and get yourself some working capital first. You get far more gp/hr than skilling, or killing with your bare hand and no supplies.
