SpaceFrasier - I know this thread is regarding HDOS not being on the Jagex Launcher currently, however I did want to address a few misconceptions here:
- The Jagex Launcher is not a 3rd party client, and is not stealing any of your information.
- The Jagex Launcher is not storing your account information. After you login, the Jagex website will provide the launcher with a token, and that token is used by the launcher when you open it to authenticate you to your account.
- Jagex Accounts are separate from the Jagex Launcher. Many have confused them as being the same thing, but they aren't.
- When you create a Jagex Account and migrate your RuneScape characters into it, all of their login information goes away. You have one login protecting all of your accounts with mandatory multi-factor authentication in place to ensure only the owner can log into your Jagex Account.
I appreciate the skepticism as scams are frequent and you value your account. In this case, though, I think its important to read all of the details regarding Jagex Accounts and take the time to understand how they work and the benefits they provide. Jagex Accounts are optional now, but eventually they will become mandatory. Its much easier to take the time now to understand it and upgrade at your own pace rather than be forced into it later and rushed.
Personally, I feel the
newspost that announced the original closed beta
provides the best information on what Jagex Accounts are and why they are the way forward - I'd recommend giving that a read for additional information.
Yes, I had downloaded it, and had set it up so it would be used from the launcher. Then I clicked on the runelite instead of the launcher and logged in from that AFTER I had already logged in from the launcher. THAT is what I meant when I said I accidently logged in from the runelite.
