As usual the OSRS team is going to present us a "Summit" like twice a year. We are going to have this year's Summer Summit on the 19th of this month. What do you predict?

They have already told us about DMM, and Forestry part 2 that was on the Winter Summit roadmap.

Previously, they have also talked about bringing back League 2 but didn't find the resources to do it. I think they probably will present in the next roadmap, so we are going to have League 4.

We may also see some post-2007 quests ported to OSRS, as they have talked about them in Gamejam.

I don't doubt they will also reference "Sailing" as headliners on the roadmap, but practically what we may see are the navigation beta of it.

Overall, I can see the next 6 month of OSRS is primarily eventsape, with a springle of some post-2007 quests copying over to OSRS.

I'm definitely a big fan of the post 2007 quests being ported over. Land of the Goblins was a good one!

Looking back on the history of OSRS I wonder why Smoking Kills wasn't introduced with the introduction of the Slayer Reward Point system way back in 2013.

Porting post-2007 RS2 and RS3 quests over are most probable and least riskiest projects as they don't involve big technical efforts or if any at all, which OSRS seemingly is having problems with.

Ditto recycling old events like the original DMM and Leagues 2 as DMM: Apocalypse and League 4 when they only need to make small tweaks and no core content changes.

On the quest front, even Xau-Tak is in their agenda as Mod Ed acknowledged the "pillars" in DT2 are copied over from RS3's Xau-Tak. Not sure if Xau-Tak quests will be in the next roadmap though.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know they are recycling the very first DMM event where we hid in the poisonous mist instead of fighting. The only difference is they will be distributing cash prizes to different players. It is really no secret as they have already announced it over a month ago.

"Shall we restart?"

They are going to recycle League 2, twist a couple of quests, and rehash it as League 4. It is not that hard to guess as they have told us so around the Winter Summit 2022. Everybody just restarts from Tutorial Island as we did in all Leagues events.

"This is Old School's next big ???... Third time is a charm..."

Didn't they tell us about "Old School's" next big "skill" 9 months ago already? Perhaps they have learned and put a small print to the re-announcement of the new "skill" and tell us although they hype it on the Summer Summit roadmap, it may not come out in the span of the roadmap.... and Mod Kieran told us in an interview earlier in Spring it will be a long way before the new skill (if it passes) is actually released after they showed us the Sailing "Navigation" beta they hopefully will deliver this year.

Not explicitly mentioned in the trailer but we should see on the next roadmap is Forestrey part 2, which is actually some content on the Winter Summit roadmap they didn't deliver yet.

Summer Summit coming up soon... Anybody predict something actually surprisingly new?

I can't think of anything they haven't talked about, but I think it is safe to predict the League 2 rerun won't come any time soon after the DMM rerun as previously Mod Markos and company told told us they pushed League 3 off because they didn't want the 2 updates to compete with each other for the same group of players. So, maybe Legue rerun comes in early next year is likelier.

Oh so they are actually opening up Varlamore next year, or over the span of next year. So there is at least a little something to look at perhaps.

I see they are trying to finally put up some former GameJam projects mentioned by not implemented. The Tasakaal Trials minigame from the first Gamejam in 2022 like a year and a half ago may see daylight. It sounds a bit like Inferno to me. Do they reward a new Inferno Cape and kill the current one?

The Hunter Guild thingie is another GameJam project with animals. Mod Kieran compared it with the Farming Guild so I guess there aren't really anything new else. perhaps like the Farming Guild, we get a few more hunting spots based on our Hunting levels. Maybe we get to know more about the animals the higher our Hunter level.

We are going to get Twisted Tales too. Why not? More quests won't hurt even they are smaller ones.

A new mid level boss... another boss is not surprising as OSRS is adding all kinds of "bosses" left and right with every update.

Overall, Varlamore may not be too bad, although I think how much meaningful content they can put up there really depends on how much and if they are going to do with Sailing next year.

Do you feel OSRS is turning their Jmods into salesmen?

Half of the Summer Summit is about selling plushies, discount membership and the cash prizes of DMM.

I like Mod Kieran telling us the design of DMM... "hey! $25,000 cash prizes. Nothing better than that. What are you waiting for"?

i thought dead content wasnt a good thing? so how is that fine

however if you dont like forestry, you are not forced to do it at all. you can still wc exactly the same way you have been for all these years.

Forestry part 2 is just a small scale project with a handful more random events added. I believe most of these small additions were already under development with Forestry part 1 way back but they didn't have the time to finish it off.

They actually rescinded all the leaf, tea and tertiary effects previously planned to make it an even smaller update. I think the added development time is just pretty small.

Considering all we have in the roadmap is a couple of events rerun in DMM and League 2 as well as the usual seasonal events this year, any persistent progression content is nice to me.
