Is it worth it to use the rune longsword, instead of the scimitar? I think i read somewhere that stab attacks do bonus damage against the ogres in the corsair cove dungeon, would it make sense to use it against them? Is there any type of situation where it would make sense to use the longsword?

Rune weapons are never worth it when you have 68 str, melee and def and use at least dragon. Different dragon weapons are all situational too.

Honestly for that level bracket, it would depend on the weakness of the npc in question. If you're attacking something that's weak to stab, use the longsword. If it's weaker to slash, use the scimitar. Around that level it could potentially make you hit more frequently. Aside from that I don't think you'll see much of a difference between the 2.

Overrall the scimmys have a higher DPS but as mentioned above for enemies weak to stab such as dragons, a longsword will come in handy.
