I logged in today and noticed that someone on my friends list had their name removed. I was rather surprised to find out that the player in question was in fact Mod Reach.
The news is unsettling, I held Reach in high esteem prior to this. Hopefully this doesn't affect the development schedule/future plans of the OSRS team too much.
I'm particularly curious about the future of Zeah.
Never thought mod reach would do something like that.
I'm incredibly disappointed and don't understand why someone would jeopardize a job they enjoy doing and undermine all the hard work the team and players have done over the last two years. Such betrayal is going to leave a hole in the community for who knows how long.
Yeah Im curious about the motivation. Being fired for something as dubious as this has to leave a stain on his entire career. I can't imagine another firm in the industry would be willing to hire him given what has been said so far about his transgressions. Essentially risking career suicide? What could possibly be worth that?
Also I am disappointed. I really liked how Dan seemed to always want to push the envelope. He always wanted big, better things. He didn't seem to be a fan of baby steps, even though that seems to be what enough players in the community want.
While I have no issue with Ash in terms of his ability to create content, I dont think he has the personality thats looking to do bigger and better. I think he'll just continue doing and making whatever the community asks of him, and theres nothing wrong with that. I just worry that for my sake, the game will become stagnant and boring because the community will disagree too heavily about what is and isn't "op" or acceptable.
What an unfortunate turn of events. When I first glanced at the news post this morning I was hesitant to believe my eyes. I thought that this was either some very late April Fools joke or Mod Reach died in a tragic accident. I never would have never thought that he would be fired for taking advantage of his position.
I'd like to first thank Reach for the effort that he put into this game for the past two years. He helped create some great content and he brought us some great ideas. I understand how tempting it must be to be in a J-Mod position. You have the ability to make unreal amounts of in real life money from the game.I've wondered to myself how many other J-mods have taken advantage of their position and profited off of the game. Remember that 75k climbing boot fiasco? It seems like it's too easy for j-mods to profit from this game.
Nevertheless, we must put this behind us and look forward to the future.
I started doing kq today for the desert elite diary and just got a kq head at 70 kc. I'm so happy right now.
Also finished mage training arena yesterday and then got lumbridge and draynor elite diaries done.
Still gotta get that 1k chompy kills and play pest control for the additional requirements. Then just get the rest skill requirements I guess.
