When the OSRS team first announced that they would be polling three new skills, I had an immediate gut reaction of disappointment. When I saw the three proposed skills, I felt even worse. When I saw it was the sailing meme that would pass, I knew it was finally time to quit OSRS.

After returning to RS3 after 10 years of Old School RuneScape, I would like to take this time to thank the OSRS team for permanently killing their game.

I wouldn't be having such a great time training skills like Archeology and Necromancy if it wasn't for what OSRS has become.

Maybe when I reach 120 Necromancy I could try to revive OSRS, but I won't hold my breath.

This may sound like feigned bitterness, but I really am happy I can now focus on one RuneScape now that OSRS is ruined.

At least with RS3 I know what I signed up for. I cannot say the same about how the OSRS team has handled their glorified Private Server.

It seems that they've quickly forgotten what necessitated OSRS's existence in the first place.

What with a lowered pass threshold, a shortened poll duration, and the most important poll question since the game's inception being hidden amongst a litany of inconsequential polls.

It's an insult.

I do want to keep this post positive though and not focus too much on the OSRS team's integrity, as I don't believe this is a reflection of Jagex overall.

It's been a fun 10 years but it's time to return to real RuneScape.

I don't think they've forgotten marketing and sales necessitated OSRS's existence. They are just doubling down on such sales first approach. Hence, we are getting to pay all kinds of extra $$$ for new game modes like GIM, FSW, Partnership exclusive benefit offers, etc. Also, polls results are no longer guaranteed, and are often deflected to whatever content sells for the most.

without those treasure hunter keys on 'my' game, 'your' game would either die or incorporate them yourselves.

you can shoot the messenger all you want but osrs exists because jagex alienated half of their original player base overnight. sailing opens the door for them to do it again. maybe not now, but eventually. so enjoy training agility/dungeoneering on water to level 60 while you can, cuz eventually a catastrophic update is coming and we'll have 2009scape, if that update isn't already sailing itself

if i dont like some korasi type weapon with a secondary d claw spec that can be imbued to automatically complete every quest for me like your 3rd party client can, i can ignore it. the same cannot be said about a core mechanic like a skill. out of the 23 original skills, maybe 7 of them are good. if you want novelty on osrs, skills arent the answer. especially when theyre glorified meme minigames that attempt to function as a skill. but go ahead, keep beating the same tried and dead formula that will clearly not work for osrs the same way it barely does in modern rs3... microtransactions await you soon, too.

lol thats a bit of a stretch, especially with the amount of votes. hard to take it seriously when there numbers are there

you seem to be fixated on dates. im unsure why.

yes osrs is from a 2007 save file, but it doesnt mean it has to stay the same as it was in 2007.

aslong as the combat system is the same. then it is still osrs

3PC like Runelite and HDOS perhaps? Not with HDOS but with Runelite you still control to use modern graphics among other non-2005-esque plugins.
