I'd go a step further and avoid third party clients for now. There was a broadcast about avoiding high risk activity shortly after the game update happened but nothing official about the problem you're facing.

Just send in a bug report detailing your specific issue for now and hopefully the testers will be able to see what's up.

Thanks for sharing btw since we can all be on the lookout for these strange events. :)

I did end up getting response back from Jagex, in regards to a "lost items" claim of mine.
Their response was as follows:

" You indicated in your message that you lost your items in Old School RuneScape. Unfortunately, as described in our lost items policy we're unable to return items due to technical limitations with the game.

I understand this isn't the news you were hoping for and how frustrating this could be, but is a service we're simply unable to provide support for.

We hope you understand and wish you all the best on your future adventures.

A bit unfortunate. But understandable.
Hopefully this gives additional insight to those in similar situations.
