"Thank you again for taking part in Deadman: Apocalypse. We recognise that the finale didn't hit the mark for many of you and we'll be aiming to do better on that front going forward, but we're sure we'll have more opportunities to improve in future tournaments as well as having a solid base to work from!"
Knowing I wouldn't win any prizes against gp swapping players and clans, I didn't participate in DMM.
For those who are in the know, what "mark" did OSRS try to hit DMM with, and why did they fail?
I know some big diehard players who no-lived DMM the first 10 days suddenly left OSRS to play other games. Did they suddenly find the reason DMM failed to hit the mark?

Didn't B0aty was very happy hitting Rank 4 and vowed to push further, only in the next day he announced he would be talking a break to play another game?
I don't know if this had anything to do with DMM missing the mark though.
Wasn't a quick finish with the DMM final great when the few time DMM always ended with DDoS attacks?

no it seems he just wanted to play elden ring. and this is 1 person that stopped. you said some. misleading.

no definitely not. it wasnt engaging. even the hosts seemed to be shocked it was over so quick. the way it was set up was that ddosing wouldnt be beneficial for clans. as that was the issue previously a certain clan/clans were ddossing at certain points to give them advantage. the way it was now. there would be no benefit.
but no it ending quickly just made it boring to watch and it.... well missing the mark. there wasnt anything engaging to watch for us viewers. so boaty leaving had nothing to do with them "missing mark" it was just the final that streamed by osrs.

you are making the points as to why people leaving a game has no bearing on its performance, its just twitch streamers will go other games, and thats what boaty has done hes just moving to another game. because he wants to, had nothing to do with dmm being bad or missing the mark etc. as the actual event itself the lead up to final. was in many peoples opinions the best one so far. but the live streamed final is where it missed the mark.
So the DMM final ended peacefully was the problem? Perhaps some people wanted to watch the DDOS delays and replays that prolonged the finales in the past.
I'd say for future events, OSRS should focus on content for the players actually engaged and not the streamers or viewers who mostly just want to pad the numbers up.
