I still believe the community would be much more receptive of an apology if it included a day's extention to the DoubleXP weekend - as was suggested on the forums very early in.
And to those who were having near constant difficulty while others were still able to play... The issue was with the login server which has to query the world server everytime a login attempt is made. And this attempt at communication is akin to someone knocking on the door.. well so many people were trying to get through that door that it wasn't just slowing down the login process - it was slowing down the game worlds themselves. Every time someone clicked -retry- on that failed connection attempt, it was like shoving on the crowd already trying to fit into that narrow doorframe. The speediest worlds weren't the least populated, but the ones that had the fewest people trying to *get in* at any one time.
That being said, at one point on Saturday I whisked over to the Tech Support forum and saw FIFTY pages of hidden/locked messages. Which were likely transferred by the over-worked forum moderators in an attempt to stem the tide of OUTRAGE by the player base.
And the response to this outrage after its all said and over is akin to: "Hey guys, we know -some- people were getting lag and we'll try to improve on it next time."
?...
I appreciate events as much as anyone, but it'll take a lot more than that to earn confidence back.

Eh, I ended up getting less exp than I would of done on a normal weekend, since it was taking me hours to log in, but here's hoping it'll happen again some point next year, so I can benefit.
Still, it's nice that you've acknowledged the problem and apologised, feels less of a middle finger now :3 <3

@Jagex...just a friendly reminder, Your real players have not forgotten about all the lofty promises that were made and still unkept about the bots. Probably would have had no lag had the 30 -40k bots been offline like promised. The problem is out of control, the communication on your end is non existent, and the promises once again didnt materialize. I don't know how else to say it other than, i would be just fine with aboslutely no new content, promotions, weekends and whatever else your spending man hours on till you get this 5 year old problem addressed. It effects all levels of the game and with the lack of communication and flustration over this single issue in game and on the forumns you would have a lot less complaints, a whole lot more satisfied player base, and some integrity on the issue. The lag issue was certainly made much worse with the bots that were online, before you spend money expanding your systems how about doing what you have promised over and over and over again and get rid of those that have chosen not to play by the rules u must agree to in order to play the game!
Yours Truly, One exxxxtremly frustrated long term Player.

I don't feel this is a sincere apology... JaGex had two days to attempt a fix and update us on the status of said lag and log-in troubles, but instead, chose to ignore everyone and leave it be until AFTER the event.
In the thread in regards to the lag, the mod stated that JaGex would try and fix the lag within the hour, or in due time. However, we never saw that happen.
We pay for events to work, not to receive an event that is struggling to stay up (in regards to servers) and the inability to log-in.
I hope your servers shape up in time for the next BXP weekend, as I'm sure there'll be one.

Thanks for the amazing weekend. I hope you guys have more of this in the near future. I also found this bonus xp weekend to be much better than the former ones. Please make xp weekends more often though...
Thanks.

Thanks for the apology, Jagex, although the lag wasn't fixed within an hour. I did find one 90% lag free world after a few hours of playing, world 67 I believe.
I still don't think a flat rate of experience is good--I mean we just had 48 hours of *double* exp while the other weekends averaged out at like 1.55x over 10 hours. That's just plain uncalled for, in my opinion, and those previous weekends gave out enough exp as it is. No more, please... :|

@ Wacky Herb, What about the promise Mod Mark and Mod MMG made that said "innocent players will not get banned by botany bay/botwatch".
