People who are now non-members and are thinking about subscribing due to this update, think twice about it.
This update is obviously made because Jagex have noticed they are now loosing more and more memberships. Giving out gp and xp for money is one of the worst things a game can do. It's a bad sign it's going downhill. Many people know this is obvious.
So while 700k free xp might sound very tempting now, think about how worth it will be in a few months when the game is almost dead. I don't think selling xp/gp is the way to go. While i understand Jagex desperation to get some last money out of a dying game, I think the best thing to do is to attack the problem instead.
In the coming months we will have a Maxed-out player with 200 million xp in every skill in Runescape. He will have nothing more to do and the game will be "completed". At the same time almost every individual skill in the hiscores Top-20s are full of Maxed-out players. There is nothing more to compete about, so the game will slowly die out. Whats the use of keep going all way to 5 billion xp or 200 million in one skill to still find yourself as a nobody with a rank of 3067? No one will ever even see your name...

This constant rubbish is why we high ranked/old veterans players are all leaving. Plain and simple you've lost a large chunk of old experienced player community.
This one is probably the last straw for me so I wont be renewing this month.
The way it's looking no-one will be renewing by the end of this year the way the updates are going, your morals have gone out the window it's hardly a great example to set to the young ones "buy your way into the world".
Complete rubbish shame no-one with half a brain is left at Jagex to read this as the corporate hammer seems to have crushed any souls left in the office to bring the game to this standard

for all those bitching about this if your a regular member like me then enjoy the giveaways,you pay no extra than you already do and you get a bit of something (technically) for nothing,those that cant afford membership i imagine jagex will somehow make this profitable for f2p aswell as p2p..how i dont know but i agree it would be unfair not to,as for the xp boost,in essence you are actually paying for the privalige of xp,its inevitable that as time goes on the idea of paying for items,extras,power ups,familiars that are mountable etc will come into play to follow the trend of other games about,its just how it is (hey someone gotta pay for those adverts on the TV right???) and as long as people got money then people gonna pay for these extras..looks like jagex are one sale shy of becoming like the folks they try to shut down,whats next,gold for sale???? in saying that i love playing the game enough to accept that the way jagex are going is inline with every other online game in relation to out of game sales so i will continue to be part of this..
