Sometimes, I don't understand Jagex's motives anymore. They've become more obsessed on money grubbing from dedicated players like members and neglecting the other free players who have been playing for just as long. I have been a free player since 2001 and I don't remember the last time they updated F2P. Hell, even a small update would be nice instead of ridiculous RWT in the form of Squeal of Fortune or pointless costumes from Solomon's Store. Sitting by and watching Runescape go down the drain these past few years is really disheartening to see along with Jagex trying to entice new players with free XP, giving members an unneeded buff to say the least. The whole "Choose your fate" promotion is also questionable, provided that it does what is promised and what is on all of our minds in the upcoming update. The saddest part is that Jagex does nothing to even acknowledge the uproar of disappointed players. No replies, no changes, no updates, instead treating us players like children and resume shoving useless junk into Runescape and delving into loyal player's pockets for more garbage updates. Sad Jagex won't even take the time to notice us. If there was any quote to sum this predicament, it would be "Ignorance is Bliss."

Well this is a wicked long thread. Some scanning didn't reveal an explanation.
That bonus xp is fine as the weekends were stressful and I missed some. But how does the xp get distributed? One enormous lamp in one skill or something like the Mad May necklace that will double what we train?
I'd like to distribute the xp.
What the heck is choose your fate? If they are the most powerful weapons some members won't be able to wield them. If they are "lucky" as in SOF that could suck to get a weapon that you can't use for a long time and has no resale value.
On the other hand just dropping a lot of rare weapons into the game that are tradeable has got to mess with the economy a bit.
I suppose the free stuff from Solmon's will help persuade others to pay for it - good for marketing, not certain how it helps the game.
This concludes my2cents :)

I think that the idea of a free xp bonus like this for the members is a little odd to say the least. Already they get so many advantages it almost isn't worth playing the game for free. I agree that the f2p should have more content put into it as most that are f2p have been around longer than the members. But my goodness people like to complain and whine about how unfair it is. I have been playing almost since the game started, and only became a member after combat level 84 a couple years ago. So to speak, I didn't have a "Silver Spoon" stuck in my mouth for the entire game.
As for the "Most powerful items in the game" to say the least: I doubt that it is what it seems. Even if Jagex seems to be "money grubbing" they know better than to hand out ridiculously powerful weapons/items *****-nilly.

Dear people complaining about us complaining about us getting free stuff,
This isn't real life, I don't want freebees. I mean think of it this way, you're playing some other game and a magical creature shows up and gives you the megasword and the mighty shield. The megasword allows you to kill anything in the game with one hit, while the mighty shield gives you invincibility. It's free, right? I should be thankful! Well it makes the game meaningless. I just payed 60 bucks for the game and now I can beat it in an hour because of this.
Now, this update of course is not giving us all 99's and a max cape. No not even close. However, the problem lies in the principle of the thing. 1.05m XP can represent 21 hours of no life grinding. It gets you from level 1 to level 73. That's huge.
I don't want a handout. I want more content. Not free exp content like runespan, but legitimate, fun content that's new, different, and fun.
