Well we all knew that IVP (who own jagex) are an investment company. They were always going to sell at some point. They only want to see a profit in the investment. Unfortunately if this deal does go through, I can't see Jagex staying in cambridge. The chinese have far lower costs and more programers to choose from at a fraction of the uk wage costs. The culture change could be a very bitter pill for most players. MTX and paying for time played is common place there. It truely could be a change to wide for many to cope with. Very sad to see that our game is going in this direction. Get ready for faceless auto everything, I feel sorry for the jmods future at jagex.
The new and silent CEO Rod Cousens, may have been drafted in to move this along on behalf of IVP? Now the game is just a cash making commodity, I can't see the games future or the playerbase being in a good place in the future. O_o

RS sold to the Asian market = even more MTX and fatal cosmetics overload. AFAIK those aspects are way more important there than on the European / American market.

I predict if this sale goes through the whole game will go free**um within a year. No more membership subs, but expect to be nickel and dimed for everything, including having to "rent" bank space on a monthly basis. Once you go NXT, you never go back.

Think we could collectively raise $300m on Patreon to buy Runescape or something??? Runescape = Fan owned and maintained. This game cannot end up in the hands of the Chinese (No offence, but their videogames all suck). There must be something we can do! This is a death sentence!

Without massive financial support of the present (and past) staff, this is near impossible. Fundraising initiatives of much lower scales have been very difficult to achieve. It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation. ~Herman Melville

I could see the community getting 100x worse. Rampant gambling, swearing, botting, runaway inflation, overpopulation, glitchyness and lag, gold dealing, clan wars, mafia activity, etc Runescape will be a toxic wasteland.

I can't remember how much the land was was worth, but it was 10 mil+, New Zealanders didn't want it to be sold off shore, so New Zealanders rallied together and brought this piece of land worth 10+ million,this was only in the last few months...
