This is pretty ridiculous.
I appreciate the thought of letting players rename themselves to something that has been long-taken, and I understand that this is the first time Jagex has done something like this...
However, I don't think you should blatantly promise something and then totally muck it up. With over a decade of experience, no one thought "Hey, maybe this name clean-up might overload something... I dunno, because EVERYONE WANTS A NEW NAME!"
Like everyone else is saying, it's almost impossible for anyone to rename at this point. I suppose that's what we all get for letting our hopes get too high.
